Inspired by a thread on here which was what can you afford but you don’t spend money on..

showed what value people place on “stuff”

so obviously disregarding basic food, health stuff what do you value enough to splurge your hard earned cash on?

Lego, a lot of it, I don’t regret it.

Decent toilet paper. I have ibs and piles, I need a thick soft roll. I buy the thickest, softest I can find. We used recycled who gives a crap for years but I bought some back up stuff and realised how sore the other one was leaving me.

A shared bottle of very good wine with my best friend. Tastes amazing and doubles as a therapy session. Also plants and flowers for the garden.

Food. I'd rather spend more on something I'm going to really enjoy rather then scrimp to save money

Westcountrygal · 08/08/2026 19:37

I know you said no food but that is the thing for me ! I love good chocolate and good meat, that would be it for me.

Mndhell · 08/08/2026 19:39

Fresh flowers weekly. Just a few quid but they make me happy.

DilemmaDelilah · 08/08/2026 19:41

A private limo transfer from airport and back when travelling. Fast track security also and front seat/exit row or extra legroom seat on the plane.

As you can see, it's all about ease and comfort when travelling. I am not bothered about purchasing "luxuries" otherwise!

My gardener. My cleaner. Kew handwash. Gousto meal kits. 85% cocoa dark chocolate. Huge bath sheets.

Ihatehottubs · 08/08/2026 19:49

Mounjaro! I've lost just over 5 stone and it's amazing. Couldn't of done it without the medication, tried for over 20 years!

AFPotts · 08/08/2026 19:52

Memberships of social clubs and a gym. I'm currently single and belonging to groups and communities means a lot to me.

Also books, but I buy them second hand for a couple of quid from Abebooks (highly recommended)

Ovoemconserva · 08/08/2026 19:52

My cleaner. She's worth every £. Once a fortnight to come home to a perfectly tidy house.
Coffee out. It's my half an hour of calm and getting my thoughts straight.

leggingsbotoxmatcha · 08/08/2026 19:52

My husband was out the other day and asked if I wanted anything from M&S so I asked if he could get a fancy box of chocolates and the next morning I stayed in bed with a cup of tea and ate them all 🤣 10/10 would do again

Optimisticdramalarma · 08/08/2026 19:54

Cross stitch kits
Good chocolate
Pretty vintage style dresses
Decent shoes
Pyjamas (I love a nice pyjama set)
Decent hair bobbles
Nice shampoo/conditioner
Soaps

WhoWhereWhatWhy · 08/08/2026 19:55

Foundation
Notebook (I am very picky) with pen elastic - lasts me ages and I appreciate it every time I use it
Books (even when more expensive than buying for a kindle)
Particular white company oils for electric diffuser
Porcelain Dunoon mugs - they make my coffee taste better
Massive bed
Thermal socks for winter
Pyjamas - there is a 95% viscose/5% elastane blend that is really comfortable to me and I buy pyjamas in this mix whenever I see them
Tweezerman tweezers

By contrast, I will buy pretty any brand of deodorant, bath foam or shower gel

Starbells53 · 08/08/2026 19:55

Perfume - doesn't have to be the expensive brands and I have no brand loyalty. I am just fascinated by different fragrances and how they settle on clothes/skin. On the other hand I don't like home fragrance like candles etc (I have a cupboard of scented candles given to me as gifts never used) and dont like very perfumed laundry liquids - this mainly because they make me sneeze and eyes watery.

Brew Tea Co tea bags
My nails every three weeks (if my nails look nice it makes me feel more in control of my life)
A ridiculous amount of strawberries and raspberries
One coffee shop coffee a week.
