Can I do all this in a day. On my own?

Can i get all this done in one day on my own in one day. It would be around 12 hours. I have around 8 10kg washes could be more.

I need to build a couple of flat packs and dds bed. Plus i need to move all of dds stuff from ds room back into dds room. Irs alot.

Then I need to do ds bedroom. Its trashed. I'm hoping its not as bad as it looks .

There will likely end up more washing than I think.

Then I also need a general tidy up of the house.

I'm thinking maybe i should start with the worst room.

Children are not here. I want to make a clean slate so they can start from fresh. And i will do things like stickers for where things go. Maybe an alarm set at say 6pm every day means time to tidy.

How long is your washing machine cycle ? Even back to back i’d struggle to do more than 4 loads in 8 hours , and that’s before you start on the rest of it !

That sounds too much for one day.

Prioritise - do the washing as the ‘hands on’ time there is minimal.

Sort the worst bedroom.

Building flat packs in a mess will be a pain, so forget that for now.

And yes, your idea of an alarm so you tidy each day and go to bed with a calm house is a good one.

How are you going to get all that washing dry? Even with the heatwave I don’t think it will dry outside in one day, unless you have multiple washing lines?

The rest of yes very easily, general tidy up, hoover, mop, bathrooms, kitchen, utility, living room 2 hours max, once you start it doesn’t take long. As for the kids rooms tidying two bedrooms shouldn’t take long, once tidy hoover the stairs and bedrooms then assemble the bed.

@Wishywashy88 have you just got back from a holiday? Because that is a lot of dirty washing to have hanging around, I’m not judging just curious. We are a family of five, 3 dc and a family that only wears things once, I find it easy to stay on top of by doing at least a load a day.

I don't think it's realistic to fit all that in and agree with the other posters that even if you can wash all that in a day, drying it would be another matter.

If DD's room is empty then build the flat-pack in there before moving any stuff in as you'll need the floor space. When will your DCs need their rooms to be usable?

I am not sure it is realistic in one day to be honest. The washing is not just washing it is drying it too whether hanging it up or tumble drying. Then it needs to be folded and put away.

I would put on a wash, then build your daughter's bed, hang first load of washing out and put in second load. Do the flat packs and move to hallway if not for your daughter's room. Put out second wash and put out. Move daughter's stuff out of sons room.I would then say do an hour sorting son's room and then hopefully load one is dry so I would fold and put away, while load three is running.

Laundry - I assume it’s a mixture of clothing, bedding, towels etc to make up that much. Out in piles of what’s needed urgently. Start with needed pile. Use a fast 1hr wash you have. You might have to do the remaining tomorrow

load dishwasher. Empty kitchen surfaces and clean.

set. 20min timer on bedroom clean. Basically any dirty laundry in piles, tidy bed. Everything else tidy as needed but not sorting today.

flat pack furniture - depends. Start with one and the rest over the next few days

I could do 8 loads in 8 hours. Dark/coloured loads 30 minutes each. White loads 40 minutes each.

My shortest is 15 mins at 20, then 20 mins at 40. And 30 mins at 40. But i would normally use 1hr. 15 at 60

Youll not get all the drying done. Concentrate on the cleaning and flat pack. Then do 1 or 2 loads a day when the house is cleaner.

How come you’ve got 8 x big washing loads? Do they all need to be done in one day? I only have a rotary line in the garden and my tumble dryer is an ‘eco’ one and takes fricking ages to dry a load of washing, so I can’t do more than a couple of loads a day. The flat packs etc should be ok but I’d struggle putting the bed together by myself. Assume you don’t have any help?

No I'm just bit of a prick. And let it get on top of me. So i need to reset before it gets worse.

Much too much for one day-you’re setting yourself up for failure. Is there anyone you can call on for help? Can you afford to get someone in to do the flat packs?

A friend of mine had an overbearing amount of washing he couldn't get done as quick as he needed. He took numerous large shopping bags of washing to a launderette and it came back as 2 full large Ikea sized bags of clean (smelt lovely) folded clothes and it cost him £25. I thought it was well worth it personally, is it worth outsourcing one job? Make things easier on you?

building the bed sounds like a priority - get a load in and then unpack and read the instructions

Sort the laundry in order of priority and colours and wash what you need first. Do you have a tumble dryer? A one hour cycle is fine. When it's dry fold it and put ot away, load by load.

Whilst the washer is on, do a job during the cycle.

Chunk it up. Tidy your dd's room first so there are places for the stuff in ds's room to go. Not all of DS's room needs to be done today. I often clean one side of a room and work my way round.

Re the rest of the house, concentrate on bogs, bathoom and kitchen worktops/floor.

I don't have a car. To be honest that would stress me.

I think DS room is probably prority thats the worse room. You cant walk across the room. I might bag up any washing in his room put it to one side. That will probably let me see more clearly what needs doing

Forgot to say yes theres clothing, duvet, duvet covers. Curtains big throws. Its a big mix

I think I'm telling myself one day. Whist I have a burst if energy.

I have 4 airers. I have a large cupboard where the hot water tank is it gets pretty warm in there. I can fit 3 airers. Rotary line I can get 3 loads pf washing on that. I can hang things pvrt bannister and doors. When/ if i run our of drying places I will stop. Otherwise I will make it worse

If you don't need the laundry ready by the end of the day just would tempted to take it to a laundrette for a service wash.

It depends how long each load will take. I have a washing programme that takes 59 mins, which is my 'go to' wash, so I could wash 8 loads in a day, but the dryer takes longer, so that would be the sticking point. Do you really need to do all the washing in one day or could you do it over two?
