Can I do all this in a day. On my own?

Can i get all this done in one day on my own in one day. It would be around 12 hours. I have around 8 10kg washes could be more.

I need to build a couple of flat packs and dds bed. Plus i need to move all of dds stuff from ds room back into dds room. Irs alot.

Then I need to do ds bedroom. Its trashed. I'm hoping its not as bad as it looks .

There will likely end up more washing than I think.

Then I also need a general tidy up of the house.

I'm thinking maybe i should start with the worst room.

Children are not here. I want to make a clean slate so they can start from fresh. And i will do things like stickers for where things go. Maybe an alarm set at say 6pm every day means time to tidy.

Yes to the washing assuming you can dry it! I’d put it away a load at a time too otherwise it will be overwhelming.
building -3hours ?
moving tidying- 4 hours?

which leaves around 4 hours for washing/ hanging/putting away

How are you going to get all that washing dry? Even with the heatwave I don’t think it will dry outside in one day, unless you have multiple washing lines?

The rest of yes very easily, general tidy up, hoover, mop, bathrooms, kitchen, utility, living room 2 hours max, once you start it doesn’t take long. As for the kids rooms tidying two bedrooms shouldn’t take long, once tidy hoover the stairs and bedrooms then assemble the bed.

Edited

My washing dries in 2 hours in this heat outside

Reality is it doesn't. But i just feel a bit hyper so thought i would use it. And give myself a challenge. And i would feel better about

Hyper? Or manic? Do you need to speak to your doctor?

Lexy2345 · 06/08/2026 16:08

Why are you trying to get so much done in one day? Do you have a deadline or something? Your only day off work this week?

Well done on having the momentum to tackle this. Remember if you don't get it all done it's not a failure, irs just a start in the right direction.

I will probably leave the flat packs today and just have a tidying day.

How old are your children? Can they not help? DS11 is currently sorting out his wardrobe taking out his too small clothes and putting them to one side for me, while DS9 helps his dad build a cot for baby DS. DS5 is watching iPad so useless but the other two get put to work 🤣 they earn their pocket money!

bebefin · 06/08/2026 17:06

And I totally get the burst of energy - I think I am undiagnosed and I also need to be ‘in the mood’ before I do, well lots of things. I get so overstimulated by a messy house though - I can’t cope with it!

I put on a load of washing and a load of drying every night. DH gets up at 6am and moves washing into dryer and reloads washing machine. We do this most days. I would focus on cleaning kitchen and bathrooms first. Then empty out things from the worst bedroom and vacuum, clean windows and then make up new bed and flat packed units. Move on to second bedroom and repeat. If keeping chest of drawers and things you can clean it instead of replacing it. Pop an air freshener in each room. Do you have anyone who can help you even if you have to pay them to make up flat packed furniture.

I changed my mind about the flat packs. I'm just going to keep it as a tidy up day. I will probably mess the flat pack up if I rush it . Be nice just to have the house tidy and washing done

Can you use the giant laundry machines? Any nearby?

Can anyone help you with the flat packs? A bed is usually a 2 person job.

BinNightTonight · 06/08/2026 20:33

I always do beds and flat packs on my own. I'm not going to do them today though. I haven't slept since Tuesday and its probably going to hit me soon . So building things can wait.
