Well, there’s that as well. It’s a bloody good argument for turning off mics in a televised hustings apart from the person answering the question. The Tories did it in 2024 as well - Mordaunt went at Rayner hammer and tongs.

Isobel is projecting using the phrase "stupid stunts".

Quite.

I sat in the garden earlier to enjoy the breeze and listened to the rest is politics podcast with CBF.

My neighbours probably now think I’m odd - I was chuckling away to myself with my headphones one 🤣🤷‍♀️

It's going to take at least another night before the reasonable temperatures set in.

Everywhere is a tinderbox. That's not a metaphor.

itsgettingweird · 14/08/2026 17:48

Both da and I haven’t been well the last 2 days.

Yesterday I was washed out with a headache and slept until mid afternoon on and off. Then felt better.

Ds said he had a headache this morning and his legs are very stiff and slept on and off all morning.

He fell Al sleep in the bath for 2 hours - but he’s knocked the plug out and so just slept in the empty bath 😂🤷‍♀️

There’s a nasty thing going round, we had it the other week. Felt Covid-y. Came with a side order of Doom and Gloom. Hope you both feel better soon.

Thank you. I enjoyed it just as much as I expected. I can’t stand Owen Jones but his article was almost as much fun.

And me 😂

We got two for the price of one. The Welsh version came first and I couldn't make all of it out. Was panicking slightly that the wildfires had reached us.

itsgettingweird · 14/08/2026 19:07

Just had a phone alert system go off here, apparently we shouldn't light fires.. I was ready to grab the dog and leave.

They need to save those bloody things for when they are really needed.

5128gap · 14/08/2026 19:19

The cat is fuming. Jumped nearly out of his fur and is now glaring at me like a Reform supporter at an IPSOS poll.

We have had loads of wildfires where I am because people, including young kids, have been behaving atrociously. Five houses burned down. I think it was needed, it might make the idiots think again.

The idiots probably have the alerts disabled.

placemats · 14/08/2026 19:33

Get a grab bag ready. All important stuff an don't leave the house.

Been smelling the fires from Stoke, even though it's 20 miles away.
