Mine definitely eat less in the hot weather, though my orange still always scoffs his poached whitefish! But he was at the top of healthy weight range last week at his checkup, so we are now aiming to plateau (though the vet did say she would rather he gained a bit than lost any because kidney disease).

I'm actually really pleased he's a bit chubby, he was skin and bones 18 months ago.

Everything here is brown EXCEPT for the front lawn of a house round the corner where I drove past the guy merrily hosing his grass last week. He has a lovely lush green lawn while everyone else has the savanna, so not obvious at all.

I'm at my parents, who have become much more political and shouty in their old age. They despise Burnham, want more social hosing built, want more apprenticeships, think crypto is a scam, want to stop illegal immigrants coming in via Albanian drug gang dealers (it's an affront to everyone who pays for a visa and does the right thing), and think Farage would make a good leader! A aaargh!

The lack of logic would concern me - they despise Burnham, yet want more of two of his main policies.

I'd love my dads take on where we are now. I often imagine what he'd be saying. He was old guard socialist, trade unionist, mining background. He despised Farage and would have loved Burnham.
It was always about class and wealth for him though, and he could be quietly eye rolly about diversity.
He also wasn't a fan of multi cultural ism. Not racist, never about individuals, but I know he struggled with the demographic changes to neighbourhoods, which we would often debate. So I think he may well have been 'concerned about immigration' but he'd never have been hoodwinked by Farage. More "I hope Burnham remembers Labour are for the working class".

It's branding, not logic. They reflexively despise the Labour label as the party of "tax everything" whilst Farage appeals to their anti-boats instinct. For what it's worth, I think it's being taken as mugs + poor services in the area, rather than racism. When sky news shows how easy it is to bring someone over on an inflatable dingy as a business model, it does give the impression of lawless borders and the welfare state bleeding out.

Having said that, they dislike cheats and liars, so I'll find a MSM version of the crypto timeline and send it to them.

I'm going to visit my SIL and family in Leeds later this week. While she, and they, are very lovely, I'm fairly sure that she and her sisters, possibly her daughter/my DN are Reform supporters. My brother (no longer with us) was a living, breathing representation of the Daily Mail, so that was always 'interesting' - both my parents would have had stern words with him, with some of the shit he used to spout!)

In general we manage to not talk about politics, so I'm hoping it will be the same this time.

Not here either - 'forecasts' of a couple of hours of rain turn into the reality of 15 minutes of drizzle - weather map probably more accurate plus you can vicariously enjoy other peoples proper rain 20 miles away
