Communities that can't manage water don't last long.

You could make a case that it was water management (irrigation etc) that led to what we would call civilisation.

very odd story all round - i find it difficult to believe that they wouldn't have thoroughly checked the rules. Looks to me like searching for an excuse for a poor decision and blaming younger staff.

I went to Derbyshire the other week and was tempted to post a photo of green grass on my Facebook page to remind people what it looks like. And that's an area that has had fires.

Definitely the reason why we haven’t had any all those illegals messing up our weather.
wish it would rain though the garden is a dust bowl & my pots that I was so proud of are wilting big time bit like me anyone else really tired I’m exhausted.

It's brown in Durham, too - we've had the very odd spot of rain, more in the last week but this bit of the county has very light soil that doesn't have much leeway between bone dry and squelchy.

It was a little greener up in Gateshead, yesterday but they've been about a degree cooler throughout the summer and have been hit by more of the rain up north.

A little rain is forecast this evening here, we’ll see if it arrives. (We’ve had rumours of rain before!). But it won’t be enough to make the grass green, and there’s another heatwave coming during the next week. 😢

No rain here for weeks now except a couple of very brief showers last weekend - the dust and pollen and the heat are really aggravating my asthma

@Efacsen my asthma has been worse too, have had to take some of my blue inhaler this week for the first time in a couple of years. The air feels heavy, in the North West so not as hot and we have had a little bit of rain, but the air felt worse after it.

Same with my Dh he is going through pumps at an alarming rate, hope it eases soon for you both.

Was in the far north last week. It was GLORIOUS. Green lawns, rain! Actual rain! It's been 29 here today and looking like 32+ mid week.

was the summer I met now dh and the grass was brown then, too.
I seem to remember the winter was a cold one that year.

Plus Nige doesn’t really “Do” being an MP apart from the grifting opportunities & mouthing off.

Will we start a protest? I'm happy to make a "Make Britain Wet Again" sign, and could perhaps throw an egg at the sun? If necessary I'd consider overturning a wheely bin, provided everyone would help me pick it all up and double bag afterwards...?

i meta good friend yesterday for a coffee and she said her cat was feeding up so she felt she was gearing up for a cold winter!

Not sure how Count Binface would feel about us attacking his tribe!

Perdy’s appetite goes completely in warmer weather (like over 24 or so) but she a pampered indoor beast so doesn’t need to fatten up.
