Thanks @5128gap and @Persephonia1966

Couldn't place it. 😂

BIWI · 06/08/2026 17:04

I can't believe I've never heard that before.

National express by Divine comedy.

Can’t stand that song. It’s one of very few I switch the radio off if it comes on when I’m in the car. It’s misogynistic and nasty and gives me the rage.

Obviously not but it’s great fun picking holes in his “policies”.

This is very true. It was quite funny listening to him squirming on the BBC this morning.

Yes, it's pretty unpleasant in parts i agree. The BF version is better.

Perhaps Farage can share your concerns about the original song as a riposte to Count Binface's campaign song.

Neil Hannon has been known to describe himself as a Champagne lefty.

And yes, the original lyrics are unpleasant as is the video.

(I've travelled National Express, but before the song was released).

I have no issue with Hanson. Just this godawful song!

He wrote the lyrics.

Well, yes. I have an issue with these lyrics. Not anything else I know about him.

I always saw that song as on a par with Happy Hour by The Housemartins, as in, narrated by a jaded misogynistic snob and not an expression of the writer’s own views. But then I dislike Pulp’s Pencil Skirt as a heap of woman hating shite and am reluctant to apply the same logic to that. Common People has much the same tone of art student condescension imo.

The common thread with all the songs was the snappy tunes riddled with unpleasant words, all ironic.

The beauty about Binface's campaign song is the snappy tune to different lyrics. Which is still ironic, as iron bins no longer exist.

He forgot to mention how much sense she talks.

BIWI · 07/08/2026 09:19

Too much Kool-aid there.

"she has shown many of the qualities necessary in a party leader: to appear easy-going and humorous; to craft a style that teases her opponents rather than being snide or unkind"

Clearly not a regular spectator of PMQs.

She is consistently snide and unkind!

LizzieW1969 · 07/08/2026 09:57

BIossomtoes · 07/08/2026 08:33

Yes, much needed humour.

She’s just lost centre right voters who care about the environment and want closer links with Europe. Limiting her party’s appeal to the extreme right is not the way to gain enough votes to gain power.

I expected we'll be treated to a lot more of this whistling in the dark as those who back her in her deeply divided party hastily construct a potemkin village.

Ugh. Plan to deny foreign nationals access to social housing and kick out those already living in social housing. Badenoch is recycling Reform policies.

Agree.

It’s literally her MO.

Add a hint of patronisation and that literally sums her up.

With a side order of hectoring & shouting combined with a complete lack of graciousness or manners.

The assumption that people in social housing don't work is repulsive.

BIossomtoes · 07/08/2026 11:09

I’ve just listened to the Political Currency interview with her. Balls was so gentle with her it was ludicrous. He allowed her to double down on her denial that she ever made personal attacks on other politicians without challenge.
