I'm not editing the mistake.

What politicians say & the policies they sell matters.
You don’t have to respond if you aren’t interested.

Yes it matters absolutely. Deportation and the threat of it is a serious concern, many people are currently in limbo regarding it.

Sorry to spoil the fun.

Notonthestairs · 06/08/2026 13:51

How odd. I'm not sure why you are spoiling for an argument.

Badenoch is as unlikely as Lower to be the next PM with an overall majority.

I agree. Especially after this week’s shenanigans.

Even The Others think she's gone mad.

Notonthestairs · 06/08/2026 14:08

We have to learn some lessons from the endless ERG/IEA/Tufton Street sponsored Op Eds and "Think" Pieces from the last 15 years.
Fucking stupid ideas gain traction by degree.

Making clear quite how dumb they are is a requirement.

He’d have to kick out all the kids with parents/grandparents who were born abroad because their (usually) dad was posted abroad with the forces. Loads of them were born in Germany.

My dsis for one.

Although she was born in a British military hospital so may be covered depending on where they draw the line.

Marie-France van Heel and her three children as well.

Perhaps that's why Lower suggested it, not really thinking it through.

BIWI · 06/08/2026 14:37

I don't think there's been much real thinking, tbh.

As he'd clearly not considered that King Charles would be 'deportable' under their daft [but cruel] plan - it seems like there's been very little in the way of thinking at all

Lowe is prepping for the second Clacton by-election.

Agree.

Of people are willing to vote for a party that would deport DS children (what about him?) because he wasn’t born in the UK even though he’s British - what else would they be willing to do?

BIWI · 06/08/2026 15:46

I love that!

placemats · 06/08/2026 16:13

Thanks for sharing that @SerendipityJane

Love it, especially the hi viz jacket. It could be a promotional video to visit Clacton!

Now can anyone tell me the original song?

The description on YT says

Published and promoted by Count Binface on behalf of the Count Binface Party, PO Box 818, Tonbridge, TN9 9YF, Earth Music by Neil Hannon, Lyrics by Count Binface

I guess there is something deeply meta about it being original piece, as opposed to Farages recycled claptrap

.... He's not a bus driver

Persephonia1966 · 06/08/2026 16:23

.... He's not a bus driver

He's a very naughty boy ...

(you can see where my tastes fall off a cliff as I had no idea who Neil Hannon was. Mainly because for me, The Divine Comedy (Dante reference aside) was something that happened to other people).

5128gap · 06/08/2026 16:38

Its a clever choice. I'd expect no less from BF.
Because if you know the origional, you have the reminder of a day out to the seaside and of the 'ordinary folk' of Britain who both he and Farage are trying to speak to.

THE Neil Cannon of Father Ted and The IT Crowd signature tunes? Fantastic 😊
@SerendipityJane

BIWI · 06/08/2026 16:43

"Count Binface knows there's more to 'Clacton than Clacton' and mentioned wanting to visit places such as Jaywick, Walton and Weeley, where his new 'bin HQ' would be, if he were elected."

From an interview in the Clacton Gazette.

Oh, well. We must all have some odd holes in our cultural knowledge😀

These are mine.
