With a side order of hectoring & shouting combined with a complete lack of graciousness or manners.

All of which we know is an act too.

I’ve just listened to the Political Currency interview with her. Balls was so gentle with her it was ludicrous. He allowed her to double down on her denial that she ever made personal attacks on other politicians without challenge.

You could argue that he was handing her a bigger spade with which to dig that hole.

FFS - the algorithm has obviously decided too many mentions of crapto.

Grumpyoldpersonwithcats · 07/08/2026 19:15

@BIWI - what have you done? 😁

Ignore - now seen your post

I've been a naughty girl clearly Hmm
Here's the home page, and the Farage article is very evident:

It's basically a forensic timeline of all the donations made by Harborne to Farage

Efacsen · 07/08/2026 20:17

Wow that's amazing @BIWI - it's going to take a bit of time read and digest properly

BIWI · 07/08/2026 21:43

It does make you wonder what Farage/Reform have been doing with all that money coming from Harborne. It's like he's giving them pocket money, not just every week or month, but sometimes every day.

PickAChew · 07/08/2026 22:57

Given the very strong brexit influence detailed, I'm now wondering if the sidelining of Tories not firmly against re-kindling some ties with Europe really is all Kemi's idea.

^Yup, it really does make you wonder whether there’s more to it.

It’s about time some sections of the press were held to account for their role in rioting and civil unrest

The milk of human kindness is well and truly curdled at the Daily Express.

I imagine most of the stuff was donated by stores or by local residents who aren't arseholes.

I am struggling to understand what has uninflamed this in Thetford. It has had migrant workers and immigration for years - mostly from Portugal and the Philippines. Lots of modern slavery and exploitation on the farms around Thetford. The locals won't do the work. The farmers were bringing in workers years ago.

I think we need to keep perspective. Thetford has a population of 25.5k. Of these 100 people decided that a good way to spend an evening was throwing eggs and rocks, terrorising people and assaulting police officers. People who do this are a tiny minority, driven by the drama, a thirst for violence and for something to do.
Thy have always existed and will continue to long after immigration is controlled. They'll just need another cause.
These people should not be seen as representative of the public at large. We know from polls that the majority of people would prefer immigration to be reduced and the government is working on it. 100 violent people making a lot of noise doesn't mean this is suddenly a huge issue that takes top priority.
All this 'the people are angry' nonsense is manipulation to make it seem the population as a whole feels incredibly strongly about it. When in fact 99.7% of the population of Thetford weren't sufficiently bothered to protest.

Piggywaspushed · 08/08/2026 11:30

Yes, hence I wrote local residents who aren't arseholes.

That said , it has always been very very Reformy around there.

BIossomtoes · 08/08/2026 11:32

The local MP thinks some of the rioters were imports.

Almost certainly. It's also school holidays.

I know you did. I was just making the wider point about the messaging behind these incidents. It's always framed as 'the people being angry' as though these individuals reflect the national thinking, and we're in big trouble if we don't drop everything to fix immigration.

Notonthestairs · 08/08/2026 12:12

BIossomtoes · 08/08/2026 11:32

The local MP thinks some of the rioters were imports.

They’ll claim “grassroots” but the associated social media & any funding will stem from outside the area.

Most commentators couldn’t pick out Thetford on a map.

placemats · 08/08/2026 12:16

To be honest, I always thought Thetford was in Essex, not Norfolk.

Piggywaspushed · 08/08/2026 12:48

There's a Centerparcs at Thetford!
