I recognise that people can change, but even if we were to assume that this bloke had actually 'repented' he clearly doesn't have an ounce of humility (and Kemi Badenoch clearly doesn't have an ounce of common sense) to have him standing as a council election candidate.

Kemi "I never make gaffes" Badenoch has made a massive gaffe. If this was a Labour candidate you would be able to hear the right wing screaming from space.

It was said pretty frequently during the whole anti semitism in the Labour Party investigation that anti semitism is rife in the Conservative party, that they had not been held to account in the same way and had done nothing to address it. QED.

An interesting recent quote from him (from the C4 website).
“It’s no longer a case of neo-Nazis being antisemitic, we’re seeing antisemitism within the left, within the far left. Also within the extreme Islamic communities in this country.”

All his comms seem to be focussed on apologies for his antisemitism - can't find any reference to remorse from him over his history of Islamaphobia.
In 2014, Bonehill-Paine was convicted of malicious communications over an anti-Islam hoax that led to death threats against the owners of a Leicester pub.

Change of topic a mo - I keep reading that Burnham has changed the early release policy so rapists, child grooming gangs and violent murderers won’t be released early. My recollection of the scheme was that 5hose groups were already excluded and I can’t find reference to that changing. Have I missed one? Or is this a nasty slur against Starmer and a lie?

My recollection is that the whole system had to be rejigged to remove politicians from the loop.

And that's not a bad thing. For obvious reasons we really shouldn't want peoples sentences being decided on the passing whims of whatever is fashionable.

Especially in a criminal justice system that can take away decades of an innocent persons life with no redress.

I'm guessing that after a review of the process, Burnham is confirming that those prisoners won't be released early.

Did they have a meeting and decide that irrational hatred and the desire for the eradication of anyone who wasn't a white Christian wasn't very nice, so they'd make an exception for one group?
I'm being fascious of course, as I know that the Jewish community are being weaponised to further Islamophobia. Its the buy in to the idea of a change of heart that I can't fathom.

I read his Wikipedia page which is a shocker.

What really does stick out is that he has not once pulled back from Islamophobia. This must be OK then.

That may well be what has happened. It’s not what’s being reported. The BBC had a report saying he’d stopped them being included. And comments from victims of the grooming gangs saying they now felt safer because of it. Guardian reports that he ‘announced’ that rapists and serious child sex offenders and groomers would be excluded.
That’s not a change. It’s being presented as a change.
