A chat thread for those who don't like this Labour government. 💙

The problem with socialism is that you eventually run out of other people's money.

Interesting to hear people's views

My feeling is that he just hasn't said anything. Well, nothing of significance anyway. He's arrived, said some rubbish about homelessness, gone on holiday and ....that's pretty much it.

EasternStandard · 16/08/2026 16:51

He’s definitely easier to cope with than Starmer for sure.

I think it’ll get uncomfortable for him when pressured on policies that are not working. Not sure how he’ll manage.

Bring on the dispatch box with Kemi!

Suits me. We get peace for a few more weeks 😄

She needs to do more than excel at the dispatch box as do her team.

Can someone explain why people might think they need to change names? I’ve always posted under Loopylalalou, and I’m content that my postings have reflected the real me. I’ve had a couple attempting to troll me, but I just stop posting as soon as that becomes apparent. One post a bit further back suggests creating a new name for each thread - eh?

Over time, I probably leak enough personal info to be identifying, so I name change periodically because of that. If people are using AI to collate posts and extract info, I'll probably do so more often.

LieborCookin · 16/08/2026 19:04

@SpaceRaccoon what do you mean people are using Ai to extract info?

I'm not sure who but apparently there's someone on this site who is using AI to monitor some people's posts. I saw it upthread I think yesterday.

Creepy - what does that mean, monitor them for what?

SapphireCasino · 16/08/2026 23:28

@justasking111 i’m assuming that was a general AI query

A general AI query can’t analyse in that way. I’ve just tried it and after three attempts it actually apologised for fabricating stuff. Caught out because I asked it for specifics and found I’d commented on something I’ve never actually heard of!

What somebody could do would be to write a programme and run it through AI to collect the data? I think that’s what I mean anyway. But a general AI search weren’t cut it.

Edited

Yes that's more my worry. If you actually scraped the data and fed it to an LLM it could extract and collate a lot of information very quickly.

Ereshkigalangcleg · 17/08/2026 00:29

Are you aware of what happened with Aston University? They scraped Mumsnet and built an unofficial dataset that they used to research “transphobic language” and hate crime and their stated aim was to potentially identify posters across different platforms with forensic linguistics, it was chilling stuff.

Mumsnet Corpus | Mumsnet

Not a TAAT, but a bit of googling as a result of a now deleted thread has led me to this: [[https://fold.aston.ac.uk/handle/123456789/18 https://fold...

@Ereshkigalangcleg fucking hell !
What happened to it !

There are some absolute nutters on here who do peice together info and try and out people I saw this frequently well before Ai.

It's amazing how quickly they found people if they kinted at the area they lived in or where they work.

You see how some posters are on aibu they are very odd and like demented dogs with a bone

Ereshkigalangcleg · 17/08/2026 01:25

They deleted the main dataset but kept their bullshit “transphobia” dataset I think. Someone was using it for a PhD thesis and I think that went ahead. MN did challenge them and they backed down on some of it.

She's not in any position to do anymore than offer cross party solutions, as she has done recently. She's doing something right for her support to have gained momentum. She's also showing She's not afraid to make controversial decisions - almost Thatcher like. Dare I hope.

Pacificbeach · 17/08/2026 08:06

Good reason to change names frequently, and to not use a similar name like I do.

RodneyKitten · 17/08/2026 08:18

Yes.

Please name change.

This continued on a second thread which I have just posted on. Anyone on here that suspects harvesting can report it on site stuff. Mumsnet will act on it.

Sheesh it’s bad enough being quoted to the end of times by some.

Tg for this thread as a place away from it.

I would never know though !!

Anyway it's good to know what can be done ie what ai is capable of !!

There have always been massively over invested posters here so be aware.

.I've just seen in the paper the rape of the old man 101 .

Beyond words.

Thank you, good to bump it for awareness, and agree Site Stuff is the place to highlight this kind of intrusive behaviour.

Oldie2 · 17/08/2026 21:37

@Rinoachicken i agree, I feel that it’s desperate as a society that we have to pay parents to do the right thing for their kids re the apprenticeship/benefits reimbursement. But..if we are at this pass and this is a significant barrier then labour did perhaps need to do this for the sake of those kids.

whatever they can do to try and get young people into work has to be tried and see if it does help. It does make me quietly despair though, and it is yet another reward for people who can’t be relied upon to do the morally right thing.

Parents on low incomes receiving universal credit can push their offspring into either getting a job that that pays better short term vs an apprenticeship, or they push them out the door, making it hard for a young school leaver to take an apprenticeship up solo. Whether giving households money in this fashion will help, I am not qualified to comment, but help, none the less is needed, since kids should not be punished for their parents' lack of earning power.

SapphireCasino · 17/08/2026 21:44

@Oldie2 I might have misunderstood this since children are very much not my area 😂

I thought the money was to offset the fact that you lose child benefit and/UC if your under 19 moves from education to an apprenticeship

I may well be wrong…
