A chat thread for those who don't like this Labour government. 💙

The problem with socialism is that you eventually run out of other people's money.

@GiaGia16 @DancingFerret too dangerous for those on the boat

Genuinely, that's the argument.

we need to approach this more like the Greeks do.

justasking111 · 10/08/2026 19:42

I'm concerned about the New IRA threatening civil war north and south. Giving migrants 24 hours to leave the island. Apparently they're very organised.

We will find out that some Wrong matrix was used or some issue was not forseen.

The best brains in the UK should be looking at this from every angle.

Agree, but unfortunately they asked David Gauke instead.
I mean he did such a wonderful job with John Worboys, we shouldn't be surprised that he's come up with this master plan. 🙄

They just did that in South Africa. March and March, the organisation is called.

I am confused.

SapphireCasino · 10/08/2026 22:09

@Pacificbeach why are you confused?

Pacificbeach · 10/08/2026 22:38

What does the IRA have to do with South Africa?

Nothing much apart from the immigrants thing.

If you google the organisation mentioned by @SpaceRaccoon you will see it

It’s kind of the same principle and the same MO as the new IRA…kind of…

I thought the French were paid whether they intervened or not? Happy to be corrected if that's no longer the case.
AFAIK, there is zero incentive for the French to stop them.

If true it needs to be on a aboat basis and UK there to count how many they stop and don't stop.

So they stand there watching them load up and with a baby ? A long time ago I saw an official from Calais I think speaking with sheer exasperation of all the things we need to collectively do to stop it and many were the UK incentives of housing etc. Money food..

But why on earth is it safe for a British Border Security Command vessel to take the boat to Dover... but not safe for a similar vessel to take it back to shore in France?!

I suppose they would resist...

But is that what our laws have come to? You only have to obey the law if you don't object to it and choose to endanger yourself?!

Can I walk into a bank, and say that they need to hand over all the money, and if they don't then I'll stab myself? Confused

Yes, I would imagine this is actually a source of frustrating for the French. The initial benefits given, plus the very high acceptance rate, is a huge draw to the UK and they are the affected as they are the route to get here.

It must not be a lot of fun living around there.

According to the PM's spokesperson yesterday, the govt have now signed a new payment-by-results deal with the French.
So yes, they were being paid either way.

I've just seen the new article in the mail saying the dingy carried more than a jet plane

Apparently they have signed something re payments by results now the French !!
One wonders why this wasn't done before.

Also apparently once they have left the french won't take them back .

Why arnt the French housing them and paying them ?
I don't blame these people for one moment trying to get to us !

Nuthatch26 · 11/08/2026 08:29

I doubt the French will change their ways under threat of losing some money. They don't want the migrants to stay in France.

The safe crossing of this monstrosity is proof of concept so we can expect more mega dinghies. No doubt they'll all have a terrified baby on board. 🤬

Telegraph is reporting that Burnham’s pledges so far will cost an additional £25B per year in tax. Buckle up for tax rises on the scale of Reeves for a second round.

I don’t think his bounce will last long.

I suspect Burnham Tax rises will make Reeves's look like child's play. What with his magic mystery tour sprinkling sweeties over the country.

LieborCookin · 11/08/2026 09:59

Magic mystery tour ! At least he is back !

Id really like some assurance and update on the water situation ? Did anyone else one see Thames water boss got one million for something ?

The best and quickest thing Andy can do is to raise the minimum thresholds that will instantly help lower paid workers and help them to spend !
But he won't even though it's the no one thing he heard on the door steps of ...makerfield ..that grand litmus test !

LieborCookin · 11/08/2026 10:03

@Nuthatch26 agree. And it's clear they blame us also with our pull factors.
So what have all these negotiations consisted of then? What has been said and what's been going on I feel the minuets of the meetings should be shared as it's public interest and security.

I don't fear leaving the ehcr one bit.
The ehcr was mainly drafted by brits and much of it comes from us ,magna carter and other principles we have fed into the world.
We are one of the world's oldest democracies we don't need to be told how to be fair etc.

Binnyforthewin · 11/08/2026 10:08

The number of people who have been early released and have reoffended and are now un-early released is truely shocking. We are now having to early release more and more dangerous people to make space for the people thought to be less dangerous so were released before, who are now being recalled.

The whole thing is a farce.

LieborCookin · 11/08/2026 10:27

The country is in crisis and we are blindly allowing more people into the UK we know nothing about.
It's not like we have plenty of room and space and resources.
