Can I ask my opposite neighbours to remove their reflective window film?

any time there is sunlight it just reflects directly into our house and somehow always directly into my eyes :(

Because their actions are having a significant impact on the OP. If you actively change something you have to consider how it will affect others.

There is zero proof and only the op's belief that this is the cause of the issue.

It could equally be someone having put up a mirror or a camera.

In an ideal world yes but if they own their property and not doing anything illegal or against regulations then they don’t. Neighbours put trees up, put cameras up, and build onto their property etc all the time and although it may negatively impact their neighbours theres not much the neighbours can do if above board.

I suspect this may be the response you get.

We bought a blind that when pulled you can see out of but no one can see in. Gives a lovely glow to the room as still let's light it but would sort your problem as it would diffuse the glare.

You lost me here. This is by far and away the 100% solution to this. At present your neighbour has no problem with their reflective film.

If you were to suggest to them you would pay for a none reflective alternative of similar ilk. Do they do a more matt or darker film? it would probably either be accepted or maybe even paid for themselves.

You can't really call it unfair when they don't have a clue they've caused anyone a problem. It's not like noise issues where the offending persons knows full well what they're doing and doesn't give a crap. These people fixed a problem on their flat and are in blissful ignorance that it's bothering anyone else.

I wouldn't waste a moment being annoyed until you've actually spoken to them to see if there's anything they can do from their end. It's quite possible that they won't care and you're then stuck with finding a solution. Cross that bridge if you get to it though.

Your neighbour has installed something to keep the temperature of their property down passively, this is a good energy saving measure rather than relying on air conditioning.

You aren’t being blinded all day because the sun moves across the sky and will reflect in different directions. It must just be the particular time of day you are sitting down to watch TV?

Sorry but you can’t expect them to do that ! Just get blinds or reflective film yourself

If they haven't even informed the neighbour they have a problem yet, either this thread was started just to get replies....or they simply like moaning.

If you won't have a conversation with them, then ameliorating it is down to you
