What are your best M&S Food recommendations to try?

There’s a thread going about must-buy foods from Waitrose and I have enjoyed trying all the delicious recommendations!

I thought I would start a similar one for M&S Food, as I’m sure I’m missing out on lots of good stuff.

My contribution: the Somerset butter with maple syrup in. It’s absolute heaven on a toasted bagel!

I love the blackcurrant sundaes and strawberry tarts (both 4 packs of “buns”).

The “slow cooked” dinners, especially the beef bourginonne.

The pulled pork sausage rolls.

Cornish cruncher cheddar, and Welsh rarebit cheese to bake in the clay pot it comes in (great eaten with a part baked French stick baked alongside it).

The salt and pepper crisps that are various shapes…they come in big sharing bags and now in smaller 6 packs.

Their pinot Grigio wine in the plastic bag for the fridge (2 bottles in the pouch - tasty and stays fresh if you only want a glass at a time).

I tend to do an M&S trolley dash when I get a chance, as there’s none where I currently am based and I only get to one every 4 weeks at best (I haven’t been since Easter right now)…so I plan a big shop in late August as I am driving for a change so have space for lots of goodies to last a few months.

The ready meals are great too, but I don’t currently have a microwave so I need things that can go on the stove or in the oven (or don’t need cooking).

Oh, and biscuits. - the lemon and white chocolate cookies, dried fruit oat cookies, and Viennese biscuits

Smoked salmon and cream cheese sandwich filler. But please don't blame me if you get addicted. Since swapping from Mounjaro to Wegovy I've gone right off it, it doesn't taste like I remember but I used to love it as a treat on hot buttered toast for breakfast!

DreamingOfGeneHunt · 25/07/2026 09:38

I haven't forgiven them for discontinuing their carrot cake cookies.
However, the supergreen salad, cheddar cheese and cream cheese and smoked salmon bagels are lovely.
I haven't tried the chocolate covered custard creams because I can't be trusted with biscuits.

Toastandjam16 · 25/07/2026 09:41

Their chocolate éclairs
Giant custard creams
Mountain bars
Bagels, fabulously chewy
Pineapple lime and coconut ice lollies
Prawn cocktail in the tub to make your own sandwiches with
Candyfloss grapes
Crustless quiche Lorraine
Ridge crisps and also the four cheese and onion combo mix
Marmite mac cheese ready meal if you're a Marmite fan - DH loves this

Controversial:
Strawberry and cream cheese sando but NOT the new chocolate bread one - it's just too much!

LittleBearPad · 25/07/2026 09:43

I miss their Chicken Tikka pizza. They replaced it with Chicken Kiev pizza and it’s just not as yummy.

Bought the S’mores ice cream sauce yesterday as I was intrigued and very nearly got the cone ends. I may do next week.

PistachioTiramisu · 25/07/2026 09:51

Viennese chocolate dipped biscuits
Poached salmon fillets
Roast chicken fillets
Salted caramel profiteroles
Fresh strawberry tarts
Baked beans - much better than Heinz
Tomato ketchup - better than Heinz
Miniature new potatoes - don't go soft like Sainsbury's and Waitrose do
Dishwasher tablets
Non-bio laundry tablets
Mango and Passionfruit coulis
£8 a bottle Muscadet - delicious!

DH likes their tinned curries which he keeps on his boat.

I used to like more of their products but they seem to include rapeseed oil in so many things now, including sandwiches, which I am allergic to. It's poison to some people!

ForAmberPoster · 25/07/2026 10:38

Limelon - not seen them anywhere else, so refreshing
coconut ice cream
fiery chilli tortillas

Rosesarere · 25/07/2026 10:43

The Wensleydale and chutney sandwhich and their salad cream which is the best I have found for not having losds of added ingredients

Arran2024 · 25/07/2026 11:52

They also do a sausage with practically no additives. And in the freezer section they do a bag of bone broth disks, which you can add to casseroles etc. My favourite sandwich is a New York deli style pastrami bagel.

MauveFatball · 25/07/2026 14:05

Raspberry and white chocolate cookies - devastated that they hadn’t had any delivered last Thursday when I went! They are so moreish.

Salmon and broccoli quiche - but annoyed that it’s no longer freezable for some reason 🤔

Teacakes - the best toasted teacakes I’ve ever eaten.

The new individual chocolate bars - their version of Mars, Snickers, Twix and Bounty, all yummy.

Their s’mores chocolate sauce for ice cream
Apple turnovers
the extra chocolatey round chocolate biscuits
gala pie slices
quiche lorraine
the garlic breaded mushrooms
their
mini pork pies
lemon and raspberry sponge cake
Trifled cake Alaska ice cream

I ordered the M&S gala pie slices from Ocado a couple of weeks ago and had to throw them away - the pastry was in pieces and the jelly stuff went through the middle of the meat. The meat was ‘loose’ and reminded me of dog food! I did get a refund though.
Much prefer Waitrose’s gala pie slices although I haven’t been able to get them on my weekly Saturday deliveries for the past 4 weeks, today included. I ticked the no substitution box as previously they’ve substituted with two large pork pies, 2 packs of 2 scotch eggs, 2 packs of cheese and ham bites, all rejected 🤦🏼

LittleBearPad · 25/07/2026 19:58

Had the ‘s’mores sauce today - it’s luscious.

bettyrubble99 · 25/07/2026 20:22

Chicken ceaser dip
White chocolate & raspberry cookies

Gooseling · 25/07/2026 20:45

Probably already been mentioned:

The Tutti Frutti & Candy Floss grapes 😍

JollyJolene · 27/07/2026 13:01

I forgot to say the 5 grain crumpets. Delicious!

TheCheeryPoet · 27/07/2026 17:57

Current highlights for me are:
The French butter with sea salt crystals is lush!
The plain brioche rolls
White chocolate and raspberry cookies from the bakery
Any of their salmon
The Latte porridge
Walnut whips
sweet and salty popcorn
The Gastropub Lasagne

Franpie · 27/07/2026 18:51

Love this thread. I mostly shop in M&S as it’s our closest supermarket but there are so many things on this thread I haven’t tried. I tend to run in with my list and straight back out again. I need to spend more time browsing the limited edition or new stuff.

I love their cleaning stuff, particularly their clothing stain remover. It’s better than vanish.

Their stockpots are great. They have a white wine and garlic one. So much easier to have those in the cupboard than open a bottle of wine for a recipe.

I love their cordials in glass bottles.

Their meat, fruit and veg is far better than any other supermarket. As is their bread. And you can’t knock their cheese selection.

PigglyWigglyOhYeah · 27/07/2026 18:52

I love all of it. Just take a trolley and roll down the aisles tipping everything in.

A beautiful dinner:

Fully loaded chicken shawarma
Labneh dip
The folded flat breads
The posh hummus with chick pea garnish (near the labneh dip)
Bag of leaves
Tub of pickled red onion

Edited as predictive text thought 'chicken peas' was a thing

LadyMonicaBaddingham · 27/07/2026 19:16

M&S ketchup
M&S cornichons (though I do break my own rules for the LiDL honey cornichons)
M&S Red Delicious Apples

burblish · 27/07/2026 19:21

A few of these have been mentioned already:

  • mushroom pate
  • combo mix crisps
  • cherry liqueurs (unashamedly 70s and divine!)
  • red pepper pita chips
  • nutty superfood salad
  • pickled jalapeno pretzels
  • crunchy peanut butter (we buy the 1kg tubs)
  • pretty much any dip
  • mixed roasted nuts
  • onions in balsamic vinegar
  • Percy Pigs
  • redcurrant puff biscuits
  • Dutch shortcake biscuits
  • stone fruit and berries

I dislike the M&S jarred salsa (weird aftertaste) and their new recipe prawn cocktail fake-Skips - the old ones were great, so I'm annoyed they've changed them to these horrible imposters.

Cocolapew · 27/07/2026 19:39

The frozen meatballs are amazing

BendyDickCumbInMySnatch · 27/07/2026 19:53

Fresh 3 ingredient meatballs
Cornish cruncher cheddar
Tomato sauce
disinfectant spray and liquid the bergamot one
mango tea
rasperry something tea
the layered Mexican dip (now I know why it's always out of stock 😂)
the chicken tendies that are frozen and yes £12 a bag but the best ever
Spicy jalapeños
the bounty but not bounty bar and the ice cream bars
seriously chocolatey mini biscuits
err probably loads more

YouBelongWithMe · 27/07/2026 20:12

This is the thread of dreams.

I like their Butter Chicken and Lamb Rogan Josh from the Indian takeaway selection. Also the Saag Aloo is brilliant. I miss the chicken pakora a lot.

Their dark chocolate-covered mango and cherries. Amazing.

Their own version of a Toblerone. And the Big Daddy bar.

The prawns with edamame dip from the snacky/sandwich bit. And the crayfish/mango rice salad. And the naked katsu chicken poje bowl - my GF grab a lunch of choice.

Their tequila cocktails

The diet grapefruit and pineapple fizzy drink. Just like Lilt.

Their bake from the freezer cookies which, happily, are GF!

My children love the beef bolognese pasta bake.

Oooh the Big Daddy bar is a thing of beauty.
