Ahh sorry @MewithME itโ€™s incredibly frustrating when you think you can manage something then payback kicks in. As tea says the fatigue can be cumulative, so probably just the heat/ noise was a tad too much today. It can feel really unfair at times.
Rest lots and hope things settle soon so you can enjoy your birthday.

CoffeeBeansGalore · 16/08/2026 07:48

@MewithME I'm sorry you are feeling so rough. It's frustrating when you just want to live doing normal things.. Other people do not understand how hard fatigue can be. Let alone throwing pain & other problems into the mix.

Have woken to rain & 11โฐc. Ddogs not amused at the rain but are far more comfortable.

martha79 · 16/08/2026 08:28

Hope you're feeling a bit better today @MewithME

Very grey here and much cooler, I think it might have rained a bit too. Not sure what I'm doing today, probably a bit more unpacking, maybe a little walk.

TodayIsabetterone · 16/08/2026 09:09

I canโ€™t quite imagine 11ยฐc and rain @CoffeeBeansGalore though I can imagine the unimpressed dogs. ๐Ÿ˜ฌ

Itโ€™s overcast and much cooler here today thankfully but still a high of 24ยฐc. Think possibly rain on weds but I really will believe it when I see it. Had one 5 minute shower of rain in the whole of June/july/august!

Hope you manage a walk @martha79

Hope today is easier @MewithME

I slept well so feel better today. Pain still not great so another quiet day but my friend lent me a few books the other day so will start one of those. Might manage a scooter walk shortly with dippy dog while itโ€™s cooler though sheโ€™s currently taken herself back to her crate and is snoring ๐Ÿ˜€ so no rush!

TeaAndStrumpets · 16/08/2026 09:26

Morning all! Significantly cooler today, it's reading 25ยฐ indoors which is just nice.

Up at 7 for the waitrose delivery, then realised it's for 9- 10, not our usual 8-9! In my defence, my brain was rather hot when I made the order last week. DH was frustrated because he likes to crack on, but thankfully the chap was in good time just after 9.

My sciatica is playing up but it's the osteopath on Tuesday so that should help.

Hope you feel a bit brighter today @MewithME

I keep reading about the wildfires and musing about bringing back the stocks ๐Ÿ˜กbut I have got a lot more intolerant in my old age.

MewithME · 16/08/2026 09:26

Morning all. Thanks for the kind messages. I'm feeling dreadful if I'm honest. Doing that thing where I am wondering if it's a crash or I'm coming down with something else!

Feeling very heavy and woke up with a headache.

Fun new pain though...random stabbing pain under my left thumbnail! I mean, I think MEcfs is just taking the piss now! It's really painful though ๐Ÿ™ˆ๐Ÿ˜†

I managed to get a food delivery for later. Waitrose today..ohh la la. Sainsbury's have been really busy lately. I got a delivery pass a while ago but I left it too late to get delivery for today and couldn't figure out what we'd eat today if left to rummage in the freezer!

DS has given me a huge hug as he knows I'm feeling rubbish and says he is happy to do nothing today. Sweet boy.

So nice it's cooling down isn't it?!

I think it even rained too but have to wait for the house to cool which wonโ€™t be yet

danglethedingle · 16/08/2026 12:43

Sorry I've been MIA for a little while, I have caught up with the thread, and as I was reading I tried to take note of whats been going on, now I've got to the end I cannot remember enough to comment. But at the time I did feel the appropriate supportive/encouraging/sympathising emotion for each and every post. I promise. So I hope you all felt the hugs, applause and virtual tea and cake I sent your way.

DD1 has been here with the 2 DGDs aged 5 and 7, it was lovely, but hot and exhausting (for me and DH, they were full of beans). The highlights of the visit were that DDog got in the paddling pool with them, which was the funniest thing EVER! and feeding some giant koi carp at a garden centre. Its a lovely age, when they are happy with the simple things.

They were here 4 days, I loved having them, but now I've got the payback of course. Just planning on reclining gracefully today. Well as gracefully as possible when you are over 60, over weight, and over the hill!

MewithME · 16/08/2026 13:07

@danglethedingle ha sounds fun, dogs and children....no wonder you're tired ๐Ÿ˜Š

I'm reclining gracefully too (over weight but let's not say we're over the hill... ).

How do you lose weight with MEcfs without those jabs? Seems beyond me. I don't have the mental energy to think about it. I hate being this heavy.

I have crept up in size over the years and stuck at size 18 now. Most my friends have gone the other way. I feel so unattractive and uncomfortable. I don't think about it too much but sometimes get a bit fed up about it.

Ahh sounds like a lovely visit @danglethedingle reclining gracefully ( or otherwise ๐Ÿ˜ฌ) sounds like a plan. DDog in the paddling pool sounds like great fun and something dippy dog would do! ๐Ÿ˜‚

TeaAndStrumpets · 16/08/2026 13:29

Nice to have you back @danglethedingle Sounds like you've had a great time with dgc. We have our toddler dgd next weekend so I am bracing myself!

The not exercising with MEcfs is awful @MewithME everytime I read an article about I should be doing this or that for bone health and stamina I feel even more excluded. Mind you I've read on here today people moaning that their relatives refuse to wear hearing aids and will probably get dementia so that's another thing to feel guilty about! I tried some a few years ago but they really worsened my tinnitus so I wouldn't wear them. That's me doomed!

CoffeeBeansGalore · 16/08/2026 14:07

@danglethedingle love the grandkids. All the nice bits & then send them home!

@MewithME there are a few nasty bugs around. I had a cold which went into a chest infection. Have just finished 10 days of antibiotics. So keep on eye on yourself.

Agree, don't put everything down to MEcfs...although sadly it usually is. But just in case it's something else.

DD2 is having a weekend away for her friend's 40th . Daddy is looking after 18 month old DGD.

Every day at nursery DGD tells everyone that Mummy isn't there because she's gone to singing. When DD was abroad at a conference recently she was told Mummy was on a plane, and happily believed it for 4 days. So I asked DD where she has been this weekend, and apparently she's been at the cricket since Friday.

One day their lies will catch them out!

TeaAndStrumpets · 16/08/2026 16:29

I've been remembering all the things I was told as a child. Eat up my crusts for curly hair...nope. A really odd one was that eating up my cabbage would make my thighs bigger ๐Ÿ˜‚ I had legs like twigs though and thought they were too thin. Now my thighs are bigger, so it worked eventually!

martha79 · 16/08/2026 19:43

Love hearing about the grandkid fun ๐Ÿ˜„

I always liked eating crusts but my hair has remained very straight!

Got some housework done and the bedroom a bit clearer, I think there is actually space to build the bed now, once I find the energy and help to do it. If it wasn't for needing the storage space underneath the bed I'd probably just stay on the mattress on the floor.

Fell asleep after lunch then went for a walk round the walled garden - made myself sit on a bench for five minutes to pace myself, but I felt like it made me more angsty than relaxed, trying to be still. It's a lovely space though.

I'm with you on the weight loss, I'm pretty sure I'd feel much better a couple of stones down but it feels really difficult without being able to exercise.

Just had a bath and have got into bed with clean sheets, trying to fend off being generally a bit grumpy.

What are you up to today if you have a chronic illness ๐Ÿงต10! Summer Edition ๐ŸŒž

That is a beautiful garden!

I think if I ever paid for any home help I would have a bedmaking team like in a hotel. The last few weeks I would have loved crisp fresh linen every day but it's just too exhausting and DH wouldn't want to be bothered ๐Ÿ™

MewithME · 16/08/2026 21:05

@martha79 is that your garden or one you've visited? So pretty . I LOVE walled gardens. They're my favourite thing to potter around ๐Ÿ˜Š

It's a local one, part of my nearest park. Going through that entrance feels very 'secret garden' like!

@TeaAndStrumpets I would love someone to make my bed, especially with lovely white crisp hotel sheets all tucked in properly.

MewithME · 16/08/2026 21:38

@martha absolutely lovely. Yes, I think that's how I've always felt with them. I really want a garden visit somewhere soon if I can. Though many will be parched I expect!

Could you shout at it to come further south please. Not had any yet in my part of the West Midlands.

Give it a huge shove please, right down to the South coast! Though, I had nap this afternoon and woke up to quite the breeze coming through the window which was nice.

Gorgeous garden @martha79

And a hotel bed maker sounds amazing! Iโ€™m still missing the cheery man who came to make my bed and clean the already clean bathroom on the cruise! Ive been wanting to change the sheets here for days but never remember to remind DH to help at the right time!

Exactly! I'd rather have fresh sheets than almost anything, I can ignore dust.

TeaAndStrumpets · 17/08/2026 08:56

22ยฐ here today but no rain until Thursday. Our garden looks like a desert.

Hope you have a lovely birthday @MewithME ๐ŸŽ‚๐Ÿท It's soon, right?

I am entering birthday season now. DH near the end of the month, then DD2. DH is easy to buy for - books books books. DD2, still racking my brains.

I don't want to think about the C word!
