Where Has It Come From?

I woke up this morning pre-dawn to go for a wee. My glasses fell off my nightstand and I groped for them on the floor. My hand touched a small-ish round object, I didn't know what it was, but still half-asleep just put it on my nightstand and went back to sleep.

When I properly woke up later and reached for my glasses, I saw it.

It's a Rolo chocolate! I have not, in living memory, ever bought Rolos, or eaten them. My husband has never bought me Rolos, nor does he eat any sweets. There is only him and I in the house!

Where has this Rolo come from that was on the carpet next to my bed, and should I be worried/freaking out???

The Milk Tray man swung by to leave chocolates for the woman he secretly admired and was in love with.

Unfortunately due to cadbury's tasting horrible now he is leaving rollo's instead.

No, on the carpet beside the bed. I didn't put my hand under, just on the bit where my glasses fell.

No pets at all. Just me and husband in the house.

I think you were right the first time with ‘Rolo’.

Could it have got stuck to something you or DH have been carrying or wearing? Shoes or a bag for example.

There is someone living in your attic - they usually eat a pack of Rolos while they stand at the end of the bed, watching you. They dropped one and will be back tonight to retrieve it.

I thought 'rolo' looked wrong, but double checked and yes, that's correct.
I think if we had brought it in on a shoe, it would be squashed flat by the time we walked upstairs.

Oh God, and the trap door to the attic is in our bedroom!
However, it is packed tight with useless and no longer loved crap, so it would be a tight fit, plus they'd make a racket coming down the folding stair thingy.

No, I put the wee bedside lamp on, and got into bed, didn't notice it at all..

Obvs we don't know where it came from, but is there any reason to suspect DH?
How are things at home? Are there any other unusual situations?

DH dislikes sweet things, puddings, cakes, ice-cream, chocolates - so he definitely wouldn't be sneaking Rolos and dropping one by my side of the bed. We are fine, 30 years married this year.
I wonder if there is a Patron Saint for mysteries of this sort, kind of like how St Anthony finds lost objects....

I'm still trying to figure out the mystery of the prawn crackers

Around 6 months after I moved into my new flat, I found one of my cats munching away on a prawn cracker. This was very confusing as I lived alone at the time, and my cats were indoor cats. I hadn't eaten Chinese food since before I moved, and hadn't had any visitors bringing any in.

It can't have been an old cracker as it was "fresh" i.e not soggy and wilted like they usually go after a few hours.

A couple of days later I caught him with another one. Also fresh, and this continued for a couple of weeks. Just randomly finding him with crackers hidden away in a corner trying to eat in secret.

After that it suddenly stopped and I never saw him with one again. No clue where he was getting them.

A few years later I started letting them into the courtyard through my bedroom window. There was no direct access through the building to the courtyard, just a small alley around the back of the building that was gated off and the key had been lost long ago. It seemed safe to let them out there as it was effectively abandoned and there was no way to escape. One night I went to call him in only to find him sitting in the middle of the yard, eating a plate of baked beans. No clue where that came from either!

He's always been a bit of a scavenger and can open almost any container to access food. It's a common sight to find him eating something random. but those two are the only times I truly have no idea where things came from.

Laughing at @DoAWheelie 's cat, the plate of baked beans is hard to top!

I know. The weirdest things mine have brought home over the years have been a nearly full chicken wrap, in it's cardboard packet and a tin of spam, opened but not removed from the tin.

But mine do go outside and we live next to a footpath that's a cut through from the main part of the village so people do sometimes dump things.

Although if the spam was pilfered from someone's house I can't imagine how that happened or the confusion if someone was half way through preparing it and it suddenly disappeared.

I have nothing useful to add, I'm here for the mystery.

Have either of you stayed anywhere recently, where housekeeping might have placed a chocolate on your pillow, it has been put in a bag for later, forgotten about and then fallen out of said bag when you got home and rolled across the floor to your beside?

Maybe the Borrowers have lost their coffee table.

Or it could have been left there by the crazed offspring of the Easter bunny and the tooth fairy.😁
