Where Has It Come From?

I woke up this morning pre-dawn to go for a wee. My glasses fell off my nightstand and I groped for them on the floor. My hand touched a small-ish round object, I didn't know what it was, but still half-asleep just put it on my nightstand and went back to sleep.

When I properly woke up later and reached for my glasses, I saw it.

It's a Rolo chocolate! I have not, in living memory, ever bought Rolos, or eaten them. My husband has never bought me Rolos, nor does he eat any sweets. There is only him and I in the house!

Where has this Rolo come from that was on the carpet next to my bed, and should I be worried/freaking out???

@istherereallytimeforallthat - last hotel was a Premier Inn, so sadly no kindly housekeeper leaving a Rolo during turndown.

The thing is entirely undamaged as if it was just carefully placed on the carpet. It wasn't there the day before because I hoovered and would have noticed it.

There is someone living in your attic - they usually eat a pack of Rolos while they stand at the end of the bed, watching you. They dropped one and will be back tonight to retrieve it.

Oh don’t…the OP will be having nightmares about someone phrogging in her home

Vroomfondleswaistcoat · 17/07/2026 16:25

I'd guess it came in stuck to the bottom of a shoe or some clothing.

In a parallel universe you are a rolo before bed kind of woman and your alternate self is searching the carpet desperately for that last sweetie. It's the only scientific explanation.

GameOfJones · 17/07/2026 16:28

Curiouser and curiouser.

Did you sleep with the bedroom window open last night?

Bjorkdidit · 17/07/2026 16:30

Do you wear hoodies?

Somewhere while you were out and about, someone dropped it in your hood and it fell out when you took it off when you came home.

Admarl · 17/07/2026 16:30

Screws fall out. Rolos appear intact untouched on bedroom carpets. The world's a mysterious place.

TheBewleySisters · 17/07/2026 16:33

To answer a few questions - no hoodies, window slightly ajar at the bottom, but not open enough for a Rolo to pass through, couldn't have come in on sole of shoe as totally unsquashed as if it had just come out of the packet.

Have you been to the US on hols as they have a similar shaped sweet filled with fudge

ShrubLover · 17/07/2026 16:41

Do you wear trousers with a roll up hem, that roll up on the outside? Could it have dropped in there on public transport and come into the house with you?

No, not been to the USA for about 10 years.

I've not been anywhere other than the garden since last week. Public transport here is one bus an hour and the service stops at 9pm, so I use the car if I have to go to the nearest town (10 miles away).

Ur husband is a secret chocolate lover. You have the evidence in your hand. LTB ASAP

Cantyouseethishorselovesme · 17/07/2026 16:52

Theory One: Poirot would suspect your DH had sneaked a packet of sweets into the house and eaten them in the dark, not realising one had fallen on the floor and rolled under the bed to your side.

Theory Two: Someone who has a key popped into your house to drop something off and ate some Rolos while they were there.

Look in the bin for evidence!

I don’t think that’s a rolo, I just googled and it looks like they have printed circles but yours looks like lines?

lordbaddingham · 17/07/2026 17:02

I've not had a rolo in a long time but are you sure that is one?

Struckbylightning · 17/07/2026 17:03

I don’t think that is a rolo … I think it’s the hazelnut one from Milk Tray. So it was the milk tray man. Lucky you!

NoCommentingFromNowOn · 17/07/2026 17:03

Also, slightly encouraged by the posts about baked beans, prawn crackers and the suchlike, did that woman ever find her ironing board?

lordbaddingham · 17/07/2026 17:04

Also, have you actually asked your husband, because it must be him from what you've said.

Ooooohhhhhhhhh!!!!!

WilmaRubble · 17/07/2026 17:05

It’s too big for a rolo and I think they have circles on the top. It must be from a box of chocolates.

NoCommentingFromNowOn · 17/07/2026 17:05

Or some sort of anti tooth fairy?

UrbanSoul · 17/07/2026 17:10

That's not a Rolo.

TheBewleySisters · 17/07/2026 17:10

@Struckbylightning I googled the hazelnut one from Milk Tray - it's not that.

If it's not a Rolo, it doesn't make any difference I suppose ... it's still a mystery chocolate!

In 30 years of marriage I've never known my husband to eat a chocolate or other sweet of any kind ...
