Have you ever won anything?

Just that - have you ever won anything? I don't mean things where you're guaranteed to win so you keep spending. And I don't mean achievement awards or similar at work. I mean like prize drawer type of things.

I won £100 in the school raffle when I was 11.
I got a few £10s in the little blue packets in Walkers crisps when they did them.
I win something every month on the premium bonds.

But apart from that, I don't think I've ever won anything. I dabble on competition websites but never won anything from there.

I always wonder who does actually win on these things!

A few things from the local free paper many years ago. Board games and the like. I don’t think many people entered the competitions.
After Christmas shopping, laden with bags, I saw a raffle table in the shopping centre. It was to raise funds for a local Children’s Hospice.
I nearly didn’t stop but thought of the poor kids who went into hospice care. Bought a strip of tickets.
A couple of weeks later I was dozing in the chair and dreamt I’d won the top prize of Tracey Island! The gift of the year.
I was woken by my phone ringing and yes - it was a call to tell me I’d won Tracey Island!
As I’d already got DS Christmas presents I save it for his new year birthday.
Eventually went to the dgc

I won €7000 on a Irish radio competition and also two separate holidays, one in Morocco and one in Portugal.

I won a lodge holiday in an Instagram competition from the company.

I won a giant teddy bear which became more of a hindrance!!!

I've won £1500 DIY vouchers and festival tickets in the past 😊 my premium bonds don't seem to do very well, only won once!

I won a ceramic vase at school at about 8. I didn't realise my mum and nan had bought lots of tickets!

Very little - I won a bottle of sherry in a raffle when I was 16.
£3.10 on a lottery. Life changing!
But my biggest win was a Kindle 😂
and that’s it.

A pair of hideous orange trainers.
Two tickets to a Mark Ronson gig with free bar. I gave that away.
A year's supply of Cadbury dairy milk/whole nut/fruit and nut.
A frisbee.
200 quid from a competition in a tabloid newspaper. That was about a weeks wages for me back then so I was chuffed!
A fiver on the one time I betted on horse racing.

Considering I don't enter that many competitions I guess my entry to win ratio is quite high! Not won anything for decades though.

2nd prize in a local school art competition in 1965. It was a nicely illustrated book about the adventures of Robin Hood and his Merrie Men, which sadly disappeared in a house move many years ago.
A book token in the 4th form at Grammar School in a poetry competition. I might have written a haiku? Can’t remember 50+ years later.
Just over £300 as my share of a work syndicate lottery win.

@BillieWiper I've always wondered about people who win a years supply of things. How do they decide what a years supply looks like? Did you give any away or get through them all yourself? Do they deliver the years supply all at once? Or in stages? If the latter, are the deliveries scheduled or do you have to let them know you're ready for a new batch? Where did you store them?

My mum hosted a raffle in her shop where the prize was a massive teddy. I won. We were all mortified cos people kept joking it was a fix and Mum was really cross cos she thought the teddy was awful and after putting up with it cluttering up the shop she had to tolerate it cluttering up the house.

As a student my flatmate won 10k in a lottery, that was mid 90s. I admit I was pretty jealous

I once won a giant chocolate Easter egg from a raffle at work. I proudly took it home and my abusive gluttonous ex grabbed it and ate the lot.

I sometimes have small wins with ns&i.

I have that moment as I enter a raffle or competition, where I can see myself smiling having won the main prize but it remains a fantasy. I tend to win nothing no matter what I enter, much to my chagrin.

I used to be a serious comper in the old days. Won loads of small things, make up, toiletries,
teddies etc. but also 3 foreign holidays.

I have won a few bits and pieces over the years. Teddy Bears and Chocolates particularly when I was in school. Recently I have won some cosmetics and beauty tools, a vase and wine. I have also won some flight vouchers with my mobile phone provider. Best things I won was a hotel break in a raffle.

I am on a different forum site that has a thread where people post details of competition so often log in when I am on my lunch break etc.

For some reason I seem to go pretty well in McDonalds competitions - won a fries picnic blanket, a burger lap tray and most recently a Master Ring (gold stainless steel signet ring along with free fries every week for a year).

If it counts, I also won the Wimbledon ballot and got tickets for the ladies final a few years ago.

£1500 on the National Lottery 20 years ago.
£25 on NS£I bonds, 6 months ago.. I've had them 60 years.

A few things - 3 bottles of wine in the school raffle (the year i was breastfeeding) and some awful Christmas cushions in the hospice raffle (which seem to be there every year).
Some better ones are £1000 shopping voucher, 3 hampers last year (the kids enjoyed the sweet one), 8 water bottles, 10 tshirts, candles, barbecue and some makeup.
I have a junk email address and just enter any competitions that come through.

I've won three prizes on here. £250 of Lego, Clarks and Asda vouchers. But nothing for years since.

I won a £200 ikea voucher from mumsnet just after covid.

Only ever won one thing. All expenses paid trip to the US Grand Prix.

Haha. Yeah it was vouchers. You had to use them in Woolworths! Remember them?

You got all the vouchers at once but it was basically one a day for a year. But you could use them all at the same time I think. I used to get like 20 bars at a time. I ended up giving a bunch of them away!

I won a Jet2 holiday on Gransnet.

I've won a few things. My first was a bonny baby competition when I was 6 months old!

In terms of prizes, I've won videos, a tablet, a giant jar of sweets, £100 off a wedding dress and most recently £50 on premium bonds. I've also won money on a game show, but I can't say much about that yet (NDA, it's not been broadcast yet!)!
