Have you ever won anything?

Just that - have you ever won anything? I don't mean things where you're guaranteed to win so you keep spending. And I don't mean achievement awards or similar at work. I mean like prize drawer type of things.

I won £100 in the school raffle when I was 11.
I got a few £10s in the little blue packets in Walkers crisps when they did them.
I win something every month on the premium bonds.

But apart from that, I don't think I've ever won anything. I dabble on competition websites but never won anything from there.

I always wonder who does actually win on these things!

£1,200 in the early days of the lottery.
A weekend trip to Paris about 25 years ago.
A Debenhams competition - £250 . I spent it all on good quality sheets and towels which I still have today.
Loads of tea towels, biscuits etc.

I’ve won quite a bit over the years
£2,650 on the lottery, £500, £250 on bingo. 2x £500 on premium bonds( two separate occasions). Most recently won £1k on a slots game which was just a random thing I tried, I don’t think that is likely to happen again. I think £20 on a scratch card which I rarely buy. I no longer play the lottery as I feel I’ve had my luck with it.

I sew and won £150 worth of fabric once from a quilting magazine….still have it! Not made the quilt yet though!

I remember that competition - truly life changing.

The Halifax mortgage draw. Sadly only the £1000 rather than the whole thing being paid off.

The odd tombola/school raffle, but my sister won a holiday from Kit Kat about 40 years ago.

I won a stinky candle last weekend.
it’s not very nice but I use it outside.

I won singing lessons in Milan by penning a poem about wanting to learn to sing. That was with Werthers original sweets!

I don’t often enter competitions but did win a holiday to India.that was fantastic. And a toastie maker, different competition….

Actually, some L’Occitane perfume from New Woman magazine for sending in their “Letter of the month. DS was a few months old and he hated me wearing it. He’s nearly 18 and I still have most of it!

A glider lesson. I had a panic attack as the glider was being pulled along the runway and I never got airborne. They said I could come back, but I never did.

£80 on the lottery.
A paint your own garden gnome when I was 5 in a talent show (I did my best Kylie Minouge impression)
I was chatting to a taxi driver recently who told me his friend won the euro millions.. 27 million! I’m so jealous of someone I’ve never met.

Win on premium bonds most months. Won 10 shillings in the advertise the school fete poster competition ( it was a long time ago). 500 euros in a pub quiz on holiday last month

Yes, I do too. If you have £50k in premium bonds you are very likely to win something every month.
I won £1150 in May. That was my biggest so far.

The best thing that I won was a hairdressers voucher. It was from a school fundraiser and I was on Mat leave with very little money.

The hairdresser did such a great job that she's done my hair every 3 weeks for 12yrs. She's had a good return on income on a free cut and blow.
