Have you ever won anything?

Just that - have you ever won anything? I don't mean things where you're guaranteed to win so you keep spending. And I don't mean achievement awards or similar at work. I mean like prize drawer type of things.

I won £100 in the school raffle when I was 11.
I got a few £10s in the little blue packets in Walkers crisps when they did them.
I win something every month on the premium bonds.

But apart from that, I don't think I've ever won anything. I dabble on competition websites but never won anything from there.

I always wonder who does actually win on these things!

I have won a few small things in the school fair, a fancy cake, a couple of bottles of wine, oh and an 8 week pilates course (which i didn't attend). Biggest thing i won was an overnight spa break in a centreparc for two people, which was very nice. My friend was buying a sofa and was entered into a free draw, she won 100k! And a guy i used to work with, his father won the lottery, not once but twice! About one million in winnings each time.

Won tickets to a Motown picnic concert when I was a student.
Won some sausage brand tat (deck of cards, hat, socks) at a free raffle at a shop.
Won a smoke detector from the chimney sweep stall at a local market.
Won a cake (as an excellent bonus it was gluten free, which was perfect as I have coeliac disease) at a raffle.
There's been other things but can't remember them now.

DS is really lucky with tombola type things, he always seems to pick winning tickets so whenever we go to events that have these we come back with so much tat (and occasionally really nice things). He also won 5 free swimming pool tickets from a competition he entered by doing some cross country skiing (everyone that did it could enter their name and distance to try to win)

I won 7k on The Chase.

Yes, I’ve won random things…. tickets to gigs multiple times (usually call in radio contests), a fully inclusive week holiday to a new resort in Spain, and a £500 gift certificate to IKEA… oh also a book once. Nothing massive though, never won with lottery tickets or anything like that.

I won £1500 earrings once!

And also have just bought a set for life ticket so expect to soon win that ..!

I won a polly pocket type thing when I was at primary school. I think that was from entering a competition in ‘Twinkle’ magazine.
Then I won a signed Hanson jacket when I was about 15. I think I got 3rd place in a football sweep stake years ago too. Nothing recently though

My OH won £500 on the tennis club bonus ball a couple of months ago.
But otherwise no. A few decent raffle prizes. I do the work lottery syndicate and it’s never won more than the odd £50 in the ten years I’ve been running it.

Years ago I won a 3 night stay at a posh hotel in Majorca with business class flights, chauffeured pick up and a few hundred euros in cash, which paid for dinner etc while we were at the hotel. I also won a day at Kempton Park races with betting money and hospitality included. Both of these were raffle prizes at dinners we’d attended.

I also won a boudoir photo shoot a couple of years ago.

Other than a cheap bottle of wine on a tombola stall, nothing since.

Nothing worth more than approx £20 - minor raffle or draw prizes, very occasionally.

Mostly I don't bother with competitions because the prize isn't something I'd want or that would be easy/worth it to sell.

@6ate9 I remember once a giant teddy was being raffled at work and hardly anyone entered, even folk with children didn't want the ginormous thing 😅I almost entered because I felt sorry for the unwanted teddy, but I don't have children and was never one for teddies when I was a child, so I passed on it.

I’ve won loads!
a year’s supply of Mars bars (366 - it was about 10 years before I ate another one!)
a years supply of McCain oven chips, came as vouchers so we didn’t have to clear out the freezer!
years supply of Kingsmill bread, again vouchers, I think there were about 100, so about 2 loaves a week.
amongst masses of other things, worth many thousands of pounds, but never the elusive car.

I won tickets for a comedian through my last job.
I won at Bingo while on holiday last year
I also won a couple of Dominos facebook competitions year ago - one with a group of friends and another solo competition by correctly predicting the bottom 2 in an episode of xfactor.

I don’t blame you!’ It was a pain carrying it around, then taking it on public transport to get it home!!’ I ended up donating it to a charity shop.

I didn't win them but I got 'a year's supply' of washing pods as an offer when I bought a new washing machine once. There are only two of us at home and they lasted us nearly 18 months. They must have based it on the average number of washing loads put through per week by the average sized family. It was a very good deal - they were branded pods, Ariel I think, and they included fabric conditioner so it was quite a money-saver.

There's a novel by Iris Murdoch, 'A Fairly Honourable Defeat' including a funny chapter where someone is trying to get rid of a giant teddy bear, it made me wonder if she once won one 😆

A Local gambling games site I won £1,000 alongside a few £50’s here and there.

I won a full length mirror years ago. I still have it. Then a Snow Patrol CD on a radio competition where you had to think of a newspaper headline to describe some German tourists falling into stinging nettles. And as a teenager I won a photographic session which I found incredibly embarrassing.

Yes! Along with 'The Bell' and 'The Sandcastle' it's one of my favourites.

I won an all expenses paid holiday in a Villa to Portugal for two people for a week....with two VIP tickets to watch England play France in Euro2004.

It was mad as I hadn't even been aware I had entered into a competition! I had recently taken out a Mastercard and I was told afterwards the competition was connected to that and must have been entered automatically. Think Mastercard were the sponsors. When the letter came through to tell me I had won I initially thought it was junk mail!
