Guess what good news I received today after giving up hope

Hello all
A lighthearted chat as i am still in shock and didnt expect this !!

I received a email today that I never expected to receive. It was good news but I had given up hope that i would ever have this 'thing' that was offered. I have waited over 10 years for this. Would anyone like to guess... I haven't won the lottery but it feels like its even better than that !!

I know this is a daft chat but I am still in shock several hours after receiving the email.

I have noticed lately that MNs keep repeating threads.

This new one goes beyond ridiculous in order to keep people interested.

Do clicks matter that much.

ThistleTits · 10/07/2026 21:28

@Grapejam8 a HA property?

BeddysMum · 10/07/2026 21:43

Father Christmas is real and he got your letter asking for a pony?

deste · 10/07/2026 22:03

Expecting a baby after trying for years.

Littlesarou · 11/07/2026 07:22

Mcoco · 11/07/2026 08:44

You got a offer on housing association or council property.. I guess this would make people so happy.

Jesus, there are some miserable people on this site.

if you don’t like the guessing threads, don’t click on them. Problem solved.

Lo and behold!

bestcatlife · 11/07/2026 12:26

Congrats! 🙌 Have to admit I feel lucky and relieved to have an NHS dentist even though I have to travel 80 miles to it. Although there are a couple of practices taking on new patients on NHS in my area (Knaresborough and Harrogate if this helps anyone). Just hope I can keep my place as long as possible, part of me thinks NHS dentists won’t exist at all in a few years

TheIdlerReturns · 11/07/2026 12:27

You're going to live after all.

What a silly post.
IT'S OBVIOUSLY AN ADVERT FOLKS
Maybe an "investment" opportunity
Written by a bot
Because there aren't enough adverts on here already
This site will soon be known as Botnet website
and this name will contain an added 'h'
Can you guess where?
🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🥰

Yes I am clearly a bot 🤔 and yes I'm also advertising something... because why would getting a nhs dentist be an advert for anybody??
But you have clearly seen through my cunning plan and I will start posting affiliate links soon🤫

Cool answer 😂
But seriously, come on, no one has waited 10 years on a dentist's waiting list.
The current crisis hasn't been going on that long and besides, when I MYSELF tried to find one, 3 years ago, most would NOT add me to their lists. Plus they told me how long ago new patients had been waiting.
Do tell us your aim, your gimmick, your point.
What ARE you trying to sell us?
Turkey teeth? 😁

My aim ? To let people know not to give up hope of ever getting a NHS dentist

My gimmick ? Sorry I don't have one

My point ? That it looks like dentists are taking on new NHS patients, well in my little city up north anyway

P.S. YOU have clearly have not read the whole thread as one person has been waiting 25 years for a NHS dentist and also maybe as no dentist would put YOU on a list it maybe says more about YOU than me

You must excuse me for criticising your post. I just couldn't believe that anyone would post such a mundane, non story as yours.
You REALLY NEED TO GET OUT MORE and make some friends, so that you can tell THEM all your amazing, groundbreaking, news. I am very happy for you. Btw, it took me 3 years and I was on 3 waiting lists and spent £600 ( my saved birthday money) on private care because the nearest emergency dentist was 100 mile trip.
Good luck and good dental (and mental) health.

RaininSummer · 11/07/2026 19:37

It actually gives me hope as I have been on a list for over eight years

That's all I wanted to achieve with my post...To let people know that it can happen and eventually you could get a nhs dentist.

I understand some people think you can't have possibly had to wait that long but the reality is some of us do (and a lot longer)

I hope you eventually get sorted

I have never had to go private for dentistry. It's not all sunshine though.

The format usually is turn up for one of the first appointments for a check-up at least 10 minutes early in case someone doesn't turn up for theirs. Fail to get called in on time. Still not called in a hour or more after appointment time and unable to get any indication of how long the wait is likely to be. Need to be somewhere else so have to leave. Receptionist promises to call me with a replacement appointment. Later she calls me and I get an appointment in six months.

Six months, all but three days later, the dental receptionist calls and tells me that my dentist has left/gone on holiday/is off sick. Receptionist books me a new appointment in six months.

I manage to contract a cold a few days before the six months is up. The cold is probably due to someone on the bus coughing/sneezing without putting a hand over their mouth. These people should have to travel on a roof rack on the bus. I call the dental receptionist and she is very understanding/relieved that I am making a slot available. She books me another appointment in six months.

The above scenarios repeat a few times, then one day I find myself sat in the dental chair. The dentist rolls in sat in a wheelchair. It is so long since I have seen a proper dentist that I almost blurt out "Good God, are all dentists fitted with wheels these days"? Fortunately I manage to keep my mouth shut and realise that must be due to the shock of getting as far as sitting in the chair rather than just getting a new appointment. The dentist inspects my charts and teeth, then gives me some advice on better dental care and the importance of oral check-ups before admonishing me for coming in so infrequently.

You were working on your family tree in past times and found an important family member. You got in touch with that person (or someone close to them), gave all your contact details, but heard nothing. Now after 10 years, you've finally received a response, and they're interested in getting to know you and building a relationship??
