Guess what good news I received today after giving up hope

Hello all
A lighthearted chat as i am still in shock and didnt expect this !!

I received a email today that I never expected to receive. It was good news but I had given up hope that i would ever have this 'thing' that was offered. I have waited over 10 years for this. Would anyone like to guess... I haven't won the lottery but it feels like its even better than that !!

I know this is a daft chat but I am still in shock several hours after receiving the email.

A proposal...

Grapejam8 · 09/07/2026 20:40

Well yes obviously 😂 but I honestly thought it would be easier to win the lottery than have a nhs dentist

That is shocking. Ten years?!

Kalanthe · 09/07/2026 20:42

Just spent £500 for a check up and two fillings, very jealous 😄

SNESRainbowRoad · 09/07/2026 20:44

Congratulations! I say this as a Millennial who has given up on ever getting an NHS dentist. I’ve never been able to get one in my whole adult life.

Grapejam8 · 09/07/2026 20:45

Yeah i know i haven't even been able to get on any wait lists for years as they weren't taking any names etc so I have had to go private in the last 2 years but my private dentist mentioned last year that they had a nhs wait list and would i like my name added. Obviously I said yes and low and behold today I got the email saying I am now on the nhs list !!

By pure chance - I was scrolling the local Facebook page and someone put that the dental practice were taking on patients, and you had to email them your details. A few days later I got a call to say I was in!

We’re with an nhs dentist but my dh just had to pay £350 for a filling (after a £25 check up)… it’s still very expensive if you’re tight for money.

Huh?
I thought there was 3 bands and that was the max as such

Jury service?

(I think some people get excited by that)

I honestly would, I want it as I want work to pay me and not have to deal with anyone’s bullshit for a week or so.

Fillings are band 2 - £75. He will have had a crown which is £330 and band 3.

I pay £30 a month. Includes everything except lab work. Could you get dental insurance?

ilovepixie · 09/07/2026 21:28

Fantastic news, I had an NHS dentist then they went all private!

Marleyandme71 · 09/07/2026 21:30

Divorce papers?🤣

Crikeyalmighty · 09/07/2026 21:31

My 28 years old som also got one last year in nice bit of London! Clearly some positive things going on hopefully

Correct, that is a band 3 fee. So, either the filling meant the tooth needed a crown too, or the patient has chosen to have private alternative work on the tooth instead.
