On Monday, one of the soldiers killed in Jordan was Sgt Angel Sarah Rampersad. Will ICE be calling to check her father, a foreign national? They have form on going after the family of serving soldiers with 'funny' surnames.

Tye more times the news shows Trump saying all of the fallen soldiers being repatriated sais we cannot let Iran have a nuclear weapon' the more angry I feel.

I think the strangest one with many US evangelicals is the death sentence. The subject is blocked on my web, as is near anything considered anti religion. Yes, that is an odd one I can't figure out.

The reasonoing is, as I recall, that the death sentence is good because while on death row the prisoners find Jesus and seek redemption. So they are not killing someone, but saving their soul. And if not sentenced to death they would not find Jesus so would spend eternity burning in hell. So it is an act of love to execute.

There has been some Judges been found to hold this view I think.

And of course it's ridiculous as no one can ever truly tell if another person really 'repents' (regardless of consequences). Despite the Church positioning itself as offering forgiveness of (mortal?) sins, really, that is between sinner & God.

The idea that a priest can absolve a murderer (say) and it is therefore somehow better for them to 'meet their maker' in a state of grace than to spend years in solitary, not knowing God, is both absurd and actually wicked.
