Apparently Carney did an end run around the US on the bridge opening deal. Either he's that good/they're that stupid, or everyone agreed to wording that changed little from the original deal but allowed the dump to post proudly that he'd negotiated a much better deal for the US.
'What he actually got is a 15-year agreement to split net revenues. Not tolls. Net revenues. That’s toll money AFTER operating costs. After paying the toll booth staff. After maintenance. After snow removal, and if you’ve never seen a Windsor-Detroit winter, mate, that’s not a line item, that’s a war effort.
And here’s the kicker, straight from Carney’s own mouth this week: for the first few years, those net revenues are expected to be “negative to modest.” Negative. As in, less than zero. As in, Trump fought for weeks, held a finished bridge hostage, humiliated his own border communities, delayed billions in trade efficiency, all to win a 50 per cent share of a number that starts with a minus sign.'
