Labour probably will support. They have form for changing the timing of elections to suit themselves.

What do you mean. When have they changed elections to suit themselves?

Imagine his maiden speech, bring back Cefax, croissants for all, and let's progress intergalactic travel

I’d love him to add a few really great common sense vote winning policies too (obviously to the already great ones).

I'd like to know this too.

Burnham has it on his own wikipedia page! He is the self proclaimed king of the north.

You know how editing a wiki page works?

His wike page states he was dubbed 'king of the north' by the media

This could be referring to Labour holding elections in 2001 (4 years rather than 5) and 2005 (ditto). But that was perfectly legitimate and in line with Parliamentary rules.

The Fixed Term Parliament Act came in after that, but was repealed in 2022. Remind me, who was in power then?

@Nowisthetimeforicecream what Olympic level contortions have you gone through that you can say Keir Starmer's declared loot (which he should not have taken) is not legitimate, but Nigel Farage accepting £5m within the timeframe before being elected and not declaring it (despite the rules clearly stating he needed to) is perfectly fine?

It really is one rule for me and another for thee with you Reformites.

If Boris Johnson did come back as an MP - would he not face again investigation over the party gate scandal during covid ? Or am I missing something and misremembering which of his several scandals ?
I think it is unlikely he would stand in any event , as he obviously now makes more money elsewhere . Would he only come back if could be leader ? He would not want to just be a humble MP and whether you agree with her politics or not , Kemi Badenoch seems to be popular with her supporters / MPs .

He has declared that he will build one affordable house - possibly a better and more attainable policy than other parties

Followers of the Cult of Nigel tend to be a bit unfashionable. Knowing how to edit a Wiki page is not in the toolkit.

Err the council elections they were happily going to delay because they were polling badly.

sittingonabeach · Today 22:17

Weren’t they going to delay them as some councils are changing their make up in the near future

Err the council elections they were happily going to delay because they were polling badly.

Do you mean the ones that were being held in areas that were likely to be devolved within the next year or so, which means having an election in them could have just been a huge waste of money, when they weren’t expected to exist in the same form very shortly after.

Those ones?

Err the council elections they were happily going to delay because they were polling badly.

But that's not true. The councils themselves asked for
permission to defer as they were undergoing reorganisation. It was
to save money

It was well publicised, so I'm surprised you've got the wrong end of the stick
