Speaking of his teeth, you would think he'd spend some of that £5 million on a new set.

I know! As the saying goes, he’s got teeth like a row of bombed houses.

Notmycircusnotmyotter · Today 15:12

You can't oppose this by election while supporting the Makerfield by election (and subsequent mayoral election). Both a huge waste of taxpayers' money.

LeedsLoiner · Today 15:12

What I really want to happen now is that Labour and the Lib Dems don't stand a candidate against him and instead support Count Binface. Farage wouldn't stand a chance on the hustings.

Just skip to the end and then go about your day.

Thank you, I will take that advice.

Cracking speech. Good for him.

Excellent speech, and again he nails it perfectly - To a country brought up on the history of how young men fought on the beaches of France so that we could vote freely the idea that Labour would try to cancel elections is far far worse in the eyes of the majority in the UK than anything he has done or is supposed to have done, this is the point missed with Brexit and the shameful attempts to overthrow the will of the people, and again they still do not get it!

What real jobs has Farage had? Stockbroker playing games with other people's money? As Shania Twain said, that don't impress me much

Do we even know if he was any good? Because there are a lot of people who are shit at their jobs.

@BackToLurk he hasn't been a commodities broker since the early 90s, so who even knows now?! He founded UKIP in 1993 and became an MEP in 1999 and was an MEP for the next 21 years.

Grifters gonna grift. You almost have to admire the brass neck of Nigel Bribage

His sort never retire. They just regroup.

Wonder what he'll name his next party? He could run one called Remand from a prison cell

Wasn't everyone coming out of private school, but too thick to go to university, a commodities broker in the 80s & 90s?

Worked for Freddie Mercury? Also saw a photo recently of Julia Roberts with Denzel Washington promoting The Pelican Brief where she looks like the dummy shark from Jaws, really surprised they released that TBH.

A job where you have either run a business or worked in a business.

Whomever thought that increasing NI for employers, increasing the minimum wage and then not expecting employers to pull their horns in are stupid and totally out of touch with how businesses are run.

So only people who have worked in the commercial sector have a 'proper job'. I shall have to tell my friend who was deployed to Bosnia twice, Iraq, and Afghanistan, that they never had a proper job. Ditto my friend who's pretend-job it is to investigate road accidents - all that measuring of up of children's bodies after they have been flung through a windscreen is just amateur hour. And as for my cousin who works every day disrupting state-sponsored terrorism, clearly just a dilettante.

None of them have anywhere near as much real world, proper job experience, as someone who runs a corner shop.

If Farage is about the will of the people, why does he not wait for the result of the Standards Commission?

He say he has done nothing wrong so he has nothing to fear. And if he is found to be wrong and suspended then the good people fo Clacton can decide if they want to call a by-election.

OutOfApricots · Today 15:21

MargoLivebetter · Today 14:54

@Monty36 really? Why did he stand as a candidate to be an MP eight times then?

OK, I have found the relevant paragraph in the Procedural Protocol of the Parliamentary Standards Commissioner:

  1. If Parliament is dissolved or the Member otherwise ceases to be a Member while an investigation is in progress, the Commissioner will suspend their investigation until the Member is re-elected. If the Member is not returned to Parliament, the Commissioner will decide if it is appropriate and proportionate to resume their investigation.

So, a very cunning move by Farage to call the by-election before the outcome of the investigation!!!! The investigation has to be suspended so the by-election takes place without the results. What an eel that man is.

The Commissioner might have to stop investigating, but it doesn't prevent others from continuing, does it?

Like HMRC maybe, or investigative journalists such as the Wall Street Journal for instance, who have already looked closely into the affairs of the person who gave him this £5m and who has previously donated many more millions to political parties in the UK.

Democracy is about transparency and accountability. Not just I'm a celebrity style voting. He has been bribed by a foreign billionaire, found out, lied about it and is now trying to subvert democracy for his and his paymasters ends. You are being played.

Cue yeah but Labour, something about woke blah blah mainstream media...

I wonder how long Mr Farage would have lasted on the beaches of France? He probably wouldn't be able to do half an hour on Blackpool beach today without whining that the seagulls had it in for him and stamping off in a temper.

Thankfully they're polymer now and not paper, otherwise that could be rather soggy...🙄

Let's just hope they're genuine or the ink might run.

Clarkson should stand against him as a Tory.

Lifeomars · Today 15:22

Junobaby · Today 14:49

God the desperation is dripping off this man. Farage is very very rattled. Last ditch attempt to stay relevant

He'd be an appallng PM, thin skinned, bad tempered, no tact, no diplomatic skills, we'd be at war with some country or other within a month of him taking office.

He doesn't even hold surgeries in Clacton because of safety

What’s the 5m for then? What a farce it all is, and if his followers were any thicker they’d fucking set.
