For the last year the liberal-left have had one goal – bring down Farage. They have been monitoring every word that comes out of his mouth in the hope he'd say something controversial. Then they were going to use the fake outrage technique and demand he resign. I'm surprised it has taken them this long actually. I don't know the details, but I'd bet £1,000 he has done nothing that bad. If it wasn't this, they'd have found something else.

And for the last two years the right wing media have been trying to oust Starmer and have gone for many Labour MPs too. They would go for Tory MPs eventually but they get far more leeway than Labour MPs do, especially if the Labour MPs are female.

Even now the campaign against Burnham has already begun and he hasn't even taken office yet. And I saw a comment about Louise Haigh today as well.

It reminds me of when SWR took over the rail franchise from SWT and the RMT started threatening strike action about guards and opening doors before they were even running the trains!

I didn't agree with the NI threshold reduction but salaries are a lot lower in real terms than they were in 2008 so less of the crocodile tears for greedy employers please. They just want bigger and bigger profits and forget who they damage in the process.

Oh come on, people running businesses are the only people with real jobs. Also people who 'work in businesses' so the overwhelming majority of employees or something.

The parliamentary commissioner of standards page on procedures and protocol appears to have crashed!

LOL

GB News published Angela Rayner's son's birth certificate,

Starmer's house got fire bombed with his sister and family inside

There are pictures of Starmer and his son attending football matches.

None of which are acceptable.

PropertyD · Today 14:49

I agree. The media taking pictures of his daughter’s property and then publishing it. Shame on them. The useless Starmer didn’t even reveal his children’s names and the media aren’t after photos of them. They aren’t hunting them down.

I couldn’t vote for Reform. They are too far right for me however he is right - how many of the current Cabinet have never had a real job (all of them!) which explains an awful lot.

What's a proper job?

KeepPumping · Today 15:05

Good speech so far, the anti-Reform campaign scoring massive own goals, just like they did with Brexit, harassing his daughter is just going to enrage even more people and get him more votes.

You clearly have no idea how hard it is to keep a small or medium sized business going - how may new businesses fail and how many established businesses have gone under in our economy.

The fewer businesses there are - the fewer jobs are available.

The harder it is for businesses that are still running, the fewer staff they take on.

Piggywaspushed · Today 15:06

igelkott2026 · Today 14:49

Yes - it needs to be an anti-Reform coalition. It makes no sense to stand candidates in a seat where you have no chance. Coalesce behind the candidate who has the best chance of keeping him out (which isn't Restore as I still don't think many people even know who they are).

They absolutely do in this area. Not far up the coast, Lowe is an MP and his lot also did very well (pretending to be apolitical) in local elections.

Restore will win this.

Monty36 · Today 15:06

MargoLivebetter · Today 15:01

@Monty36 but why bother standing at all, particularly 8 times over, if it wasn't something you wanted? Do you think he didn't want to be an MEP for 21 years either?

Well, MEP’s raked it in financially. So yes, he would like that. A lot.
He liked the media which in itself gave him better earnings than his MP salary.
He enjoys being the stirrer, the agitator. That brings him into the spotlight. Not just nationally but internationally. Which he has I am sure found to be very lucrative indeed. But you have to keep yourself in the spotlight.

But MP or PM. No. If he ever found himself PM he would enjoy turning over the financial rules we live by. He has already said he would amend the FCA. The organisation that guarantees the first £85,000 of money for people in accounts.

There is no proof they harassed his daughter whatsoever. He lies through his teeth to play the persecuted victim like the cult leader he is and all his minions just blindly follow him and believe every word that comes out of his rotten toothed mouth. It’s a bit pathetic, if you ask me. I suppose that’s none of my business, though.

Cracking speech. Good for him.

What's a proper job?

To equip someone for high level politics? IMO - Understanding how stock/bond markets work (Farage has 20 years real experience) running a large business and understanding business etc. not making the tea at a trading desk or doing a summer placement after Uni.

Lifeomars · Today 15:09

So now we know he is going to inflict a by-election on Clacton and the town will be overun by media and lo and behold Nige will suddenly walk amongst his constiuents who lets hope have the sense to see how much he has used them for his own ends. I had been hoping he was going to quit public life so am sadly disappointed. Enjoying the tennis though so that's some consolation

Are you saying that it's fair game for Farage to pose in front of his adult daughter's house?

MargoLivebetter · Today 15:10

@Nowisthetimeforicecream if he felt so strongly about his children, why did he pose with his daughter Isabel in "I'm a celebrity get me out of here"? didn't he also read out a letter from his children on the same programme where they said how proud they were of him?

What real jobs has Farage had? Stockbroker playing games with other people's money? As Shania Twain said, that don't impress me much

Why do you need to know about that to be a politician?

considering they’re law makers wouldn’t an academic background be more applicable?

Should we all be doing this proper job?

All that they did was publish a picture of a house that Nigel Farage owns, and note that he claims he doesn't have to declare it among his holdings because his daughter lives there. I do think that's fair game, yes.

TopPocketFind · Today 15:11

Nowisthetimeforicecream · Today 15:04

No they aren't but it shows that Farage's whinge about being physically and verbally" most-attacked politician of modern times is nonsense

And I haven't even mentioned Jo Cox.

Edited

Speaking of his teeth, you would think he'd spend some of that £5 million on a new set.
