God the desperation is dripping off this man. Farage is very very rattled. Last ditch attempt to stay relevant

I think Clacton needs a stonking good independent candidate that all of the other parties row in behind.

No doubt Restore will target this seat heavily as well. But all of the mainstream parties need to set aside their differences in this moment and unite against the far right.

Get Farage out.

Yes - it needs to be an anti-Reform coalition. It makes no sense to stand candidates in a seat where you have no chance. Coalesce behind the candidate who has the best chance of keeping him out (which isn't Restore as I still don't think many people even know who they are).

Or he gets to leave with dignity by saying he accepts the people's voice.

Win or lose he gets to take back control of the narrative, instead of looking like he is the one being harassed out of office.

Its a clever move.

I agree. The media taking pictures of his daughter’s property and then publishing it. Shame on them. The useless Starmer didn’t even reveal his children’s names and the media aren’t after photos of them. They aren’t hunting them down.

I couldn’t vote for Reform. They are too far right for me however he is right - how many of the current Cabinet have never had a real job (all of them!) which explains an awful lot.

He's going to force the king to set out what his policy agenda actually is rather than just "the vibes". The Emporers king's new clothes will be plain to see.

Teanbiscuits33 · Yesterday 14:50

At this point I can say that his loyalists literally have fuck all between their ears. Christ almighty.

Monty36 · Yesterday 14:50

I have never believed he wanted to be an MP even, let alone PM.

He is a money man. Always has been.

I’m in sure about that, if the complaint is outstanding I reckon Parliament will have the power to resolve it. I don’t think it disappears because of a by election

Yes, I don't think its about avoiding the investigation. I think its about taking back control of the narrative. Controlling the narrative is what Nigel Farage excels at. So I think its about that.

Why don't you think any parties are up to taking on reform themselves?

The parliamentary commissioner of standards page on procedures and protocol appears to have crashed!

Probably by some of us...😳

To prove he will be liked no matter what rules he breaks.
Emotion above reason is the order of the day.

Could his ego get any bigger?

Dappy777 · Yesterday 14:53

For the last year the liberal-left have had one goal – bring down Farage. They have been monitoring every word that comes out of his mouth in the hope he'd say something controversial. Then they were going to use the fake outrage technique and demand he resign. I'm surprised it has taken them this long actually. I don't know the details, but I'd bet £1,000 he has done nothing that bad. If it wasn't this, they'd have found something else.

What's a 'proper job'? sorry 'real job'

MargoLivebetter · Yesterday 14:54

@Monty36 really? Why did he stand as a candidate to be an MP eight times then?

OK, I have found the relevant paragraph in the Procedural Protocol of the Parliamentary Standards Commissioner:

  1. If Parliament is dissolved or the Member otherwise ceases to be a Member while an investigation is in progress, the Commissioner will suspend their investigation until the Member is re-elected. If the Member is not returned to Parliament, the Commissioner will decide if it is appropriate and proportionate to resume their investigation.

So, a very cunning move by Farage to call the by-election before the outcome of the investigation!!!! The investigation has to be suspended so the by-election takes place without the results. What an eel that man is.

Really? You can see the vote counter ticking up every time he talks, ex Dear Leader 2Tier would support Brexit for this level of public connection LOL

A job where you have either run a business or worked in a business.

Whomever thought that increasing NI for employers, increasing the minimum wage and then not expecting employers to pull their horns in are stupid and totally out of touch with how businesses are run.

Why don't you think any parties are up to taking on reform themselves?

Because it's Clacton.

It's a right wing seat. I can't imagine the Libdems or Greens would ever win there!

GB News published Angela Rayner's son's birth certificate,

Starmer's house got fire bombed with his sister and family inside

There are pictures of Starmer and his son attending football matches.

I didn't agree with the NI threshold reduction but salaries are a lot lower in real terms than they were in 2008 so less of the crocodile tears for greedy employers please. They just want bigger and bigger profits and forget who they damage in the process.

I agree he is slippery.
I don’t think he tried very hard often in his attempts to be an MP. And was I think a bit shocked he actually won in Clacton.

He would be horrified to be PM.
He always is about money. For him though.

Who is paying for the by-election

The people and the establishment.

Donors as well.

Is he still going on? If I watch it later when should I skip to?

Cannot stand him though should preface this by saying I can't stand any of them. Conservative, Labour, Libdems, Reform etc.

Once they start the regular visits to the Houses of Parliment, you can bet their heads get turned and they stop thinking what's best for us, and start thinking of their own pockets. Every. Single. One.

Viva la revolución!

Just skip to the end and then go about your day.

MargoLivebetter · Yesterday 15:01

@Monty36 but why bother standing at all, particularly 8 times over, if it wasn't something you wanted? Do you think he didn't want to be an MEP for 21 years either?

It isn't his daughter's property, he owns it and she lives there. Which is why it was included in an article about Farage's properties.
