A chat thread for those who don't like this Labour government 💙

The problem with socialism is that you eventually run out of other people's money.

No reform without Farage .

Well you could say there's no conservatives without Kemi.

The media re labour have banged on about Starmer, Reeves, Milliband for two years because no-one else has risen to the top.

I'm sure there's immense talent/knowledge across the parties but are the right people chosen for the jobs. And will the civil service, never mind the media scupper them

It’s true that Badenoch is more popular than her party. It’s also true that the shadow cabinet is relatively thin. But there is talent in the party.

Mostly, though, the Tories’ history is completely different, and centuries longer, than Reform’s and the Tories have moved ground to the left and to the right many times over the years. It’s a very different proposition to change a Tory leader than the only ever Reform leader.

I’m really not surprised that Labour donor companies have been given contracts and I don’t read anything into it. Companies will donate to governments, as will individuals, because they want to be on good terms with who’s in power. But they would have been awarded contracts anyway.

Companies and wealthy personal donors would no doubt like preferment. But the processes should ensure fairness.

This is why Labour’s lies about Tory ‘corruption’ are such horseshit. Covid procurement lies were the worst.

I’m not inclined to get into the septic tank where the left swims by making accusations of corruption against this government based only on those sorts of facts. And, after all, there’s enough proven individual dodginess and hypocrisy among Labour MPs and ministers to keep us going for a very long time, and that’s after just two years.

That's very true. When I saw that I did wonder why there wasnt more outrage about it.
The sheer violence and vitrorl Boris got over his wall paper !
But I think the general silence on the other sides are very telling.

I think I posted on here that I thought Farage never wanted to be prime minister and part of taking on Robert Jenrick was that he would do the job.

I guess we’ll find out shortly.

He's too lazy to be PM. He loves verbal agitating preferably while nowhere near where he should be in relation to his paid employment and nothing more, in my opinion.

I do think they'll drop some % points of support when he goes. He is a big draw for some people, and I can't see Jenrick having the same appeal.

Afternoon all, plopping myself in ready for Nige’s statement. I suspect (hope) the recent investigations have uncovered more damaging stories than we are so far aware of and he’s jumping shop while he still can.

I’m of the opinion that Reform are done for without him (good, you all know I’m not a fan!) - It’s a cult of personality and Reform is nothing without Farage in the same way MAGA are nothing without Trump.

If Farage goes Jenrick’s really blown it. His only hope was coming into a Reform government on Farage’s coat tails and working from there. He was no loss to the Tories.

Meant to also add, apologies for my recent absence - blame these two 😍

Well I've been cleaning windows all morning in a tankini top, shorts and granny apron. I'm gonna listen to farage, then head out with my kindle to sit in the sunshine and grab a tan

He couldn't have burnt his Tory bridges in any more of a spectacular fashion either!

Cavemum, beautiful kittens! 😻

Here we go.

CaveMum · 07/07/2026 14:17

Ooh he’s a bit defensive! Plugging his gold bullion grift too 🙄

CaveMum · 07/07/2026 14:20

Can’t believe he’s standing there claiming to be the most attacked MP ever when 2 have been murdered in the last 2 years.

Nuthatch26 · 07/07/2026 14:26

Farage resigns as an MP

The Tories have been by far the most attacked political party in all our history, whether attacked verbally or physically. A million miles more than anyone else, including Farage and Reform.

I remember when Airey Neave was assassinated my mother cried. He had been the MP where we'd lived years before. She thought him a fine man.

CaveMum · 07/07/2026 14:36

So here’s the playbook:

Resign (and force the investigations to stop)
Stand again
a) Win by-election and get to say hurrah, victory for the common man
or
b) Lose and get to say ”It was fixed! Poor me!”

How much was it they said a by-election costs? Several million at least, great use of tax payer money.

Yes. And being bombed in Brighton, a mortar attack in Downing St. Plus the individual murders of Tory MPs, including Airey Neave as you say.

And all of that - massively important as it is - is on top of the relentless threats, abuse and lies from the left.

No wonder there are shy Tories.

One for Andy Burnham to answer too. Which in his case includes the cost of the mayoral election.

EasternStandard · 07/07/2026 14:42

Interesting move. I have no idea how the by-election will go but I assume he wants to up his vote to prove his point.

If he loses he’s out. A gamble but at this point roll the dice.

If you have good answers to the allegations, why gamble?
