A chat thread for those who don't like this Labour government 💙

The problem with socialism is that you eventually run out of other people's money.

Well, who’s the w&nker in the black, could easily be repurposed for our t-shirt loving (our) friend in the north….

DH is very worried about the high altitude in Mexico. He wants the England team to get on a plane to Mexico right. now.

They need to aclimatise!

He’s right! Maybe they will.

Gosh, that is just dreadful. Resilience over hundreds and hundreds of years and then crushed by the chippy Phillipson and co.

Labour: Creating equality by grinding every fucker down in just two years. Thanks guys.

BP herself admits that she is a ‘spiteful class warrior’.

I would go further, much further…

Yes exactly. What arses they are. And they’re probably enjoying destroying those places.

Good morning 😁

How can anyone see it as a positive when a school goes under like this? It benefits nobody. So much damage in less than two years.

I'm fantasising that Burnham will come in, sack the lot of them, and scrap every policy they've introduced. A girl can dream.

If you are in need of some sanity this morning, here’s a contribution from Kemi:

"Last week, Sir Keir Starmer tried to justify Bridget Phillipson’s lamentable tenure as education secretary by saying she grew up in poverty. As I said to Phillipson afterwards: “Growing up on a council estate is not an excuse for failure.”
I could spend all my time complaining that any criticism I get is because I am black or a woman. But I do not, because I think these are weak excuses. "

Kemi Badenoch: Labour women should drop failed identity politics

Every woman who is a Tory MP, every woman who has won the leadership, has had to fight to get where she is. Labour women ask Andy Burnham for quotas instead

First up, Burnham needs to cut welfare (reinstate the two child cap etc), and fund defence.

Russia fired ballistic missiles and drones at Kyiv on Wednesday night hours after Ukrainians were warned about an imminent “massive strike”.

At least 10 people were killed, including two children, during the attack, with 56 others injured.

Explosions were heard into the early hours of Thursday as Moscow unleashed one of its largest assaults on the Ukrainian capital in recent weeks.

Missiles struck residential buildings while residents sheltered underground in an air raid that lasted for more than 11 hours.

I like this part of it:

'Hilariously, Labour MPs have spent the last week making excuses that the reason Tories elect female leaders is because we act like men. The lazy stereotyping of confidence and assertiveness as male traits is yet more proof that Labour still don’t know what a woman is and probably never will.

It is 2026, not 1975. A woman was able to become leader of the Conservative Party five years before I was born. Labour should stop pretending their problem is structural misogyny. The problem is assuming they have a right to the top jobs just because they are women.'

Damn right, Kemi.

If you want a top job, prove yourself worthy!

Oh god. We can only hope!

Sadly it's more likely a fever dream than anything which will come to fruition. I'd bloody love that though.

That would be good. If he said we can see the VAT policy is just damaging education and closing historic schools and sacked Phillipson then great.

Brilliant piece, she's so right. Thanks for the share. Sanity and a breath of fresh air.

Agree. But will he?
Front page of the Times says Burnham's first job will be to find £7bn (thanks to Starmer).

Yep, couldn't agree more (speaking as a woman who works in construction here).
The fact that they are demanding quotas speaks volumes.

The Conservatives are much better at having women in the top job, without quotas. And non white.

Labour can’t do it.

I’m not optimistic either.

Starmer lacked any kind of leadership skills or authority, and could not make a decision (save locking up people he deemed far right).

Assuming Burnham proves more authoritative, he will simply run into his back benches/the unions.

It’s why I cling to the hope of an early GE.

Well it's not looking good if Burnham's big idea is <drumroll>.....No.10 North. 🙄

Had a lovely afternoon at an old friends house. Her younger son was home. Just finished first year residency at a hospital. He's very pessimistic about getting a job after next year. So will probably follow his older brother to Australia.

His older brother is having a great time. Good money, better hours, nice flat. He says it's all UK doctors out there no Aussies where he works. Out of the 50 on his course 38 are now in Australia.

His parents are bereft both sons in Australia perhaps forever. Grandchildren etc.

Upstartled · 02/07/2026 09:05

I'm sure she is devastated. I am steeling myself for my kids being jettisoned across the world to pursue their careers. We'd be able to follow them to NZ/ Australia but we'd be out luck otherwise.

Oh that’s tough. Idk what the rules are on joining them but we know the distance well in both directions and a few generations.
