LIGHTHEARTED

Ive seen this trend going around on social media, i find MN to be a bit negative at times so wanted to ask what people are grateful for or what makes you feel lucky. Can be anything from shallow to more serious.

I think people would be jealous if they knew I paid off my mortgage at 33.

Wow, I'm jealous!

GreenCaterpillarOnALeaf · 26/06/2026 23:23

That my husband is well fit and that I am still pretty thin for having three kids. I am a 10 now BUT my boobs have gone up 3 sizes so I’ll take being a size bigger now I’ve actually got a bit of boobage (former B cup).

Also we have two sets of parents who are willing to do childcare and live reasonably close so we do get a decent amount of child free time.

FastFood · 26/06/2026 23:27

That I have remained a size 4-6 since I was a teenager and that I have never ever been on a diet

CheeseWisely · 26/06/2026 23:36

Following up, we shunned our cool lounge this evening for our even cooler garden and invited our new (we’ve just moved) neighbour for a drink. Turns out she’s an ex-nanny more than happy to babysit our toddler should we ever need. Cheers! 🥂

This is just going to be a bragfest @doodledoodlebugbug

It's hard for anything like this to be lighthearted.

PrettyLittleRose · 26/06/2026 23:39

And I know this may be hard for some to take in and believe, but I am jealous of NO-ONE! No-one has anything I want.

I have a flair for languages (and degrees to back that up). It’s just luck - I worked hard enough at it but I know it came a lot easier to me than it did to any of my pals. A lot of people (at least used to) wish they could speak another language, but maybe it’s not so desirable nowadays 🤷‍♀️

Same
(no degrees, but I’m very good at languages)

To be honest I don’t see anything wrong with that. There’s a lot of negativity and a race to the bottom mindset on MN at the mo. Sometimes I think it’s nice to reflect on what you have to be grateful for.

I have great legs, great skin and hair at 58.
I look a lot younger and I’m still quite pretty. I can wear really funky clothes and make up (I’ve worn my share of awful, frumpy stuff tbf! 🤣🤦‍♀️)

I don’t wear anything outlandish; I’ve been told that I’m very stylish and put-together.

I know a lot of people from school who look significantly older.

I’m extremely kind, thoughtful, helpful and considerate.

My hot husband and absolutely gorgeous Arab horse - I am living my teenage dream

MustardYellow · 27/06/2026 00:01

My amazing, supportive parents that can provide childcare whenever I need it and supported me to leave an abusive relationship.
Happy, healthy and beautiful child that is meeting all their milestones.
My cats!
I look young for my age and still get ID'd.
Friends that love and include my child even though they're child free.
(No one except family knows this) Being in the position to start buying a house as a young-ish single parent.

🤛 Yes! It’s a joy and a blessing 🥰

wendywoopywoo222 · 27/06/2026 00:14

My main gratitude is being 60 and still having both my parents. They have been the best parents to me and although their health has declined and they live in a care home I see them 2/3 times a week and there’s barely a visit where we can’t find something to laugh about.

I have a lot of other great things in my life but nothing as precious as then.

My sons are both happy, in excellent mental health, on good career paths and really quite sensible but fun and loving. I’m very proud and it’s (the only) part of my life that feels sorted.

Well done x it’s no mean feat xx

WeetabixForDinner · 27/06/2026 00:17

I'm jealous of anyone who still has young children

SoloFlying · 27/06/2026 00:53

My post divorce glow up 😁

changedusernameforthis1 · 27/06/2026 02:39

I'm in the process of getting my first book published. It was always one of my dreams to become an author, and it's finally coming true in my mid 30's.

I get along with DW amazingly well. Eight years together and still extremely happy. I think we just seem to agree on the same things, see things from the same perspective etc.

EmailsaysOOO · 27/06/2026 02:51

Three happy, healthy children in their 20s and early 30s. with no mental health issues. (This hasn't always been the case.) Stable marriage to the best man in the world. What we need now is a dog. Different views on this though.

Meadowfinch · 27/06/2026 03:44

The things I am grateful for:

  • My son is happy, healthy, well balanced, doing well.
  • I have paid off my mortgage
  • I'm being made redundant next month but it simply doesn't matter because my 41 years of pension contributions mean I no longer need to work.
  • I live somewhere lovely & green, and can go running through lanes and woodland within 30 seconds of my front door.
  • I am healthy with loads of energy, and (personal vanity) a steady and shapely size 10.
ThisMauveTurtle · 27/06/2026 03:47

3 healthy kids and husband
Both sets of parents alive.
Work part time
Mortgage paid off at 34
Love my house
Kids doing well at school

DisappointingAvocado · 27/06/2026 03:53

DH and I both work 0.8fte but on good salaries and were able to afford a big house in a lovely part of Edinburgh. We feel so grateful to have this without having to work stupid hours, and that we still get to pick our kids up from school and spend a lot of time with them.

I've always been naturally slim and never had to work hard for it or even really think about it. My body knows when it's full.

My kids are doing so well at school (immersed in a second language and both ahead of their peers and expected stage).

changeintheair · 27/06/2026 04:06

For about 5 days a year, everyone is jealous that we have air conditioning in every room.

PrimeSeason · 27/06/2026 04:09

My kids grew up into really wonderful people - kind, fun, bright, responsible and hardworking. Married fabulous people - they’re all really happy and in great careers. We all get on really well and love spending time together. I honestly have to pinch myself.

PonyPals · 27/06/2026 05:19

I lost 60kg and got skin removal surgery. I look hot!
