LIGHTHEARTED

Ive seen this trend going around on social media, i find MN to be a bit negative at times so wanted to ask what people are grateful for or what makes you feel lucky. Can be anything from shallow to more serious.

  • husband at the gym
  • Youngest child in bed asleep
  • eldest at the beach and
  • middle at her friends.

Laying on sofa with a nice selection of lollies in the freezer watching Netflix true crime.

I'm in my sixties and don't have any health problems. I realise that this is a matter of luck rather than merit and could change at any time.

Ooh what are you reading right now?

Dh and I used to work at the same (massive, barely crossed paths) place and on staff nights people often said we we were their couple goal

We're not showy, just quietly happy.

Air conditioning installed 2 weeks ago, my bedroom is now my favourite place to spend all day in this heat.

Frankbutchersfangs · 26/06/2026 20:30

Healthy, fit body at the age of 47, great boobs. Nice skin. Lovely supportive husband. his family are my family and vice versa. Great friends, lots of social events. Good health. Mortgage paid off. Income my own. Good savings. New career which I’m enjoying. Live in a nice village in picturesque countryside. Lovely home. Lovely mum. Lovely cat. Lots of clothes, handbags and shoes. Mental health and sleep a lot better after sorting out peri issues.

I feel like I’m bragging typing it out, but I think this exercise is gold and very healthy for reminding yourself to be grateful and look for the good in life.

You win! 🏆 I am insanely jealous! 🥵

MrsLFii · 26/06/2026 20:34

I’ve got two beautiful (of course, aren’t they all?) healthy happy kids, one boy and one girl.
My husband adores me, literally looks at me like I hung the moon, and is very open about said adoration. He’s just so deeply good… and hot, bonus!
Little me would look at the safe, happy, loving home, filled with laughter and fun, and be absolutely gobsmacked. My childhood was truly awful and I couldn’t have ever have imagined I’d ever be lucky enough to have this.
Superficially, my boobs 😂 they do my back no good at all but they’re cosmetically fabulous 💅

Lumenade · 26/06/2026 20:37

My DH and I are each others true loves- 25 years and counting. We thank our lucky stars we a) found each other and b) continue to love each other fully. I realise how rare this actually is in the world.

Im also very very lucky to have DDs and DSs. It’s been magnificent and dreadful but I’m forever grateful.

Now this is something to be jealous of!

CelticSilver · 26/06/2026 20:39

I had four babies, naturally conceived and all healthy at 39, 40, 43 and 46.

I have no debt.

Life was unbelievably shit in my teens and 20s but now, it's good.

MagnesiumBathSalts · 26/06/2026 20:39

I’m a SAHM with no need to ever return to work. (I probably will when dc are older but I am financially secure enough that I don’t need too). It took absolute hell to get to this point though and I have worked very hard (as has Dh).

Starseeking · 26/06/2026 20:41

My health and wealth; I’ve only ever been off work due to maternity leaves and earn in the top 5%, having come from nothing.

Speckson · 26/06/2026 20:46

Buying our first house outright (sort of) at 22 in a much, much cheaper area than where we had grown up. We'd been engaged for 3 years and DH got a good job as soon as he'd done his A-levels and saved like fury, I'd had money invested for me from when I was a baby by my parents and we borrowed the other third from DH's parents and grandad.
Paid DH's parents back in 12 months by living like hermits but kept on saving like crazy afterwards. Grandad wasn't rushed, I think he regarded as an early legacy, but we paid him a small amount which he had set every week. After about 2 years we had to move back to our home area for family reasons but prices had stagnated there so we reborrowed parent-in-law's loan and with our new savings could afford a larger house. Paid inlaws back as fast as possible - I think it was about 12 months again.
We were there about 10 years, saved loads (we both worked full time). Decided to start a family and bought our final dream home in cash - we are still there.
So we have never had a mortgage, never really had money worries

Hallywally · 26/06/2026 20:49

I’m extremely envious of all the air con folk! 🤣🥵

And also anyone who’s lucky enough to still have both their parents 40 ish + (assuming they’re good, loving parents- I know a lot aren’t).

  1. I really want to know how many words i can read a minute (probably not very many, I have to resort to audiobooks these days as I don’t have time to read ☹️)
  2. How is the book? I love The Rest is History

I am really enjoying it, he is a great storyteller and you very much hear his TRIH voice in your head. The arc of the book is leading towards a position I have held for a long time - and that is always gratifying.

I always knew I was a quick reader but I recently did an online test - hence my current smugness.

TootyPahooty · 26/06/2026 21:02

I live in a lovely 4 bedroom house with a garden that backs onto fields, an amazing view and a driveway that fits 5 cars on. We live on the outskirts of a city so this set-up is quite rare amongst our friends!

Whorulestheroost1 · 26/06/2026 21:06

My young adult DC have been a dream to parent. Single Mum since they were 11 & 12 and they have never given me any grief, we are very close and I love it.

HausOfHoIbein · 26/06/2026 21:07

I’m really rich.

Bambalama · 26/06/2026 21:12

I have a flair for languages (and degrees to back that up). It’s just luck - I worked hard enough at it but I know it came a lot easier to me than it did to any of my pals. A lot of people (at least used to) wish they could speak another language, but maybe it’s not so desirable nowadays 🤷‍♀️

Winterpeach · 26/06/2026 21:13

I have A/C in 3 rooms all blasting cold air.

It’s 20 degrees in my lounge and I’m thinking of putting my slippers on? 😄

You win. 😂
