Preferring the weather relative to your birth month

Let me explain.
My mum has a theory that I'm a fan of hot weather due to being born in August.
My brother was born in December and he cannot tolerate any sort of high temperatures, therefore she believes you'll always have a preference for hot or cold weather depending on the season you were born in.
That's her anecdata based on a pool of two 😆

What's your take on my mum's theory?
Absolute bunkum or a grain of truth in it?

Nope exactly opposite here. I'm spring and love autumn, dh is winter and loves summer.

Gettingbysomehow · 23/06/2026 15:22

I totally believe in that, I was born in the harsh winter of 1962 - almost as bad as 1963 and there was heavy snow when I came back from the hospital in the February.
I love snow and cold weather.

Lillers · 23/06/2026 15:22

Hmm, I’m an October birthday and I like the summer! But Autumn is my favourite, so maybe there’s some truth in there somewhere!

Honeyhonay · 23/06/2026 15:25

No, I’m born in the winter and hate the cold. Warm, muggy weather is my favourite.

Fifthtimelucky · 23/06/2026 15:26

I have the same theory, based entirely on the fact that my favourite season is spring, which is when I was born.

DebbieTheCat · 23/06/2026 15:26

I forgot to add that if you're born in April/May/September/October, you can swing either way as these are "neutral" months.

(Honestly she is actually a really normal person usually... 😄)

I always say im an October baby which is why i hate the sun but it’s just a joke, theres no meaning behind it my sister was born in January (which is colder) and loves summer

Specialneedsnightmare · 23/06/2026 15:27

Nope. I was a November baby but I love the hot summer months and get depressed in winter.

IsThisEverOkay00 · 23/06/2026 15:28

No. Does not hold true for me. I’m July and though I like summer, I much prefer autumn.

afaloren · 23/06/2026 15:28

I was born in Spring but it did snow, of which my mum loves to remind me. I hate the heat. Autumn is my favourite.

VikingLady · 23/06/2026 15:30

mine is in early winter and i infinitely prefer it. Both kids are in spring, with DD born in an early heat wave and DS in a chilly patch, and they do actually prefer those weathers!

WhatAMarvelousTune · 23/06/2026 15:30

I was born mid winter and hate being cold, hate snow, hate ice!

Although I did spend several years of my childhood living near the equator so maybe that would override my birth month weather!

Berlinlover · 23/06/2026 15:30

I was born during a heatwave in the summer. I hate heatwaves with every fibre of my being.

ThatLilacTiger · 23/06/2026 15:34

I was born in February and I'm surprised every year that I manage to survive the first three and a half months.

Tiddlywinkly · 23/06/2026 15:35

Nope. Summer baby and I prefer mild weather - spring or autumn.

PurpleLovecats · 23/06/2026 15:35

Im May and love the winter.

Dorrieisalittlewitch · 23/06/2026 15:36

July birthday, hate the heat.

ThatGreenFawn · 23/06/2026 15:36

Im November and i love the winter. Love the cold dark nights.

incognito1991 · 23/06/2026 15:38

Nope I’m July and I prefer winter

Thebinisrightthere · 23/06/2026 15:41

Yes, I was born in July and like the summer, though not the current temperature! I love having a summer birthday as my birthday parties as a child were always outside in our garden. It's usually warm on my birthday these days though not always dry

LaurenciaLamb · 23/06/2026 15:41

No, I was born in January and hate the winter.

minipie · 23/06/2026 15:42

My tolerance for hot weather has massively decreased as I’ve got older… I don’t think my birthday has changed…

OtherS · 23/06/2026 15:56

Nope, I'm August and hate the sun. Give me a lovely crisp autumn day, with crackling open fires, snuggling on the sofa when it gets dark early, a good stodgy pie, lovely long hot bubble baths... so bored of salad and eternal sunlight and still being sweaty after 14 showers a day 😩

It was good when I was younger though, as boozy summer birthdays were definitely more fun than winter ones!

HurdyGurdy19 · 23/06/2026 16:50

Born middle of June. Loathe anything over 20⁰

So bang goes that theory 😄

Vroomfondleswaistcoat · 23/06/2026 16:54

I was born in late November. Absolutely loathe winter and am loving the temperatures at the moment (it's 31 degrees here). My dog, likewise born in late November, is currently snuggled under a fleecy blanket.... but she's an idiot.
