Thank you to @RedTagAlan & @TooBigForMyBoots for taking one for the team and giving reportage.

I was looking at some footage of the concentration camps and wondering how on earth people in a supposedly civilised country reached the point when they really thought it was OK to treat other people like that simply for being a different race. And then I realised we are seeing exactly how it happens right now, in the US. It really made me feel sick.

It's interesting to see how the administration has been scrabbling around trying to find new ways and fresh meat to keep MAGA's onboard.
They've obviously had a little brainstorming meeting and landed on 1. Religion (white evangelical type only) - 🍊💩 must now appear to fully embrace it and mention/invoke God at every opportunity.
2. Commies - calling Dems woke lefties isn't enough anymore. But it seems that in researching the 250 year USA history they have serendipitously rediscovered Reds Under The Beds and McCarthyism... the perfect regurgitated threat to mention in every speech, tweet, press conference, rally etc etc.

On God Guns and Commies, this is from his Mt Rushmore speech the other day:

I was listening to (woke leftie) Bill Kristol the other day and he was predicting that, now that they've maxed out abortion and the trans stuff, the upcoming big issue in republican campaigns is going to be Supreme Court justices and a congress that will follow Kavanaugh's reasoning and find a way to get rid of birthright citizenship. That would tie in nicely with the above themes for them.

I think the sudden fixation on communism is because a few DSA candidates won primaries recently so they're gearing up to scream about communism until the midterms.

And many of the old, white Democrat members of Congress are running scared of him as well.

It was AOC and the squad before, but TBH I don't think the squad have helped themselves on international stuff. Good backbenchers though, but not POTUS material.

I think it's pretty debatable how much attention voters, or older ones anyway, are paying to international stuff, particularly considering how incoherent the conversation is about it in general. And I don't think AOC saying a few ums in a NYT interview is going to break things in either direction.

I will say, though, that Israel/Palestine seems to be a fixed and uniting issue among young voters on both sides of the political spectrum, so candidates are going to need to do some pretty fast thinking on how they're going to approach it.

And if Trump's potus material, so is my dog (the dimmer of the two).

I feel firmly these days that by not seeing that the world wasn't working for them, my generation has failed my children's and we need to stop defending old norms and find new ways to look at things. I listened to an interview with Ta-Nehesi Coates recently and he was so thoughtful on the issue of 'the most important election of our lifetime' and how many times we can tell people they need to vote for the least worst option.

I was going to reply re AOC international stuff that I am biased towards intl of course, but that the dems are their own worst enemy too. I remember seeing a vid of a Bernie meet with a hall of Virginia miners back in 2015 or so, and without using the word "socialist", he totally converted them to the idea of a US NHS. And the dems shafted him.

There was another town hall too when he had repub voters eating out his hands. But the dems don't want to know. They want " little house on the prairie " stuff as you know.

But this subject is a broken record now.

Thanks to all who took one for the team and watched Scrotus' 'magnificence' yesterday. When I got back and switched the telly on there was a really great fireworks and drone show being broadcast from Nashville. Wow!

Any time Scrotus appeared on the screen yesterday I either changed the channel or muted. I didn't want to kill my buzz since it had been a fun day. I knew I could depend on y'all to give me the lowlights.

Now back to business as usual. 122 days til the midterms, I think things are going to start heating up between the candidates in their the midterm election campaigns in the 21 states that have had their primaries.

I totally agree that the establishment Dems have played their cards very badly when it comes to Bernie (as well as a whole huge boatload of other things). While I fully understand and support his reasons for for it, I do think it's slightly unfair to expect Dems to support him with party funds as an Independent. I know it's more complicated that that, but...

The irony is the Dems squeezed Bernie out until he was too old and then supported Biden.

And back to the pool.🫠

There's not enough money in the world that would pay me to listen to his crap.

And IS the pool algae-free and with its bottom (miraculously) completely covered in paint again after it had peeled off?
