Soon girls and women will have to carry proof that
a. they are female
b. they are not pregnant.

And even then they will be subject to 'spot checks'

It's all in the SAVE act.

All the worst aspects of dystopian novels in one fell swoop (disclaimer: I read “The Handmaid’s Tale”, “1984” and “Brave New World” in the Seventies and have never re-read them nor watched any television adaptations, so I can’t remember exact details - for all I know, @DuncinToffee is referring to something which has been recently televised).

DuncinToffee · 02/07/2026 16:11

No, I wasn't referring to somthing televised.

I was referring to girls and women sports , the 'big win' Trump had.

Sorry, I'm behind again.

Is this just being hyperbolic, or are you & @SerendipityJane talking about a real thing?

I'm just imagining what Trump feels he can do to signal to his base he ain't gonna let no stinkin' judges get in the way of the will of the people.

Unless I am very much mistaken (I'm not) there is nothing in the constitution preventing the President from requiring female visitors to the US to fulfil certain criteria.

Not being pregnant is one. (As is not becoming pregnant in the US).

Both, I think.

There have been calls of banning pregnant women entering the US in case they give birth there

And the SC's ruling on transgender athletes could well mean that girls and women have to proof they are biological women in order to play.

Not my country, not my monkeys.

I need my voice for the shit that's going down in the UK. We've both made our beds, so how best to get comfortable.

Not my country, not my monkeys.- That could be the opening line to a poem.

Here's some news that may have slipped under the radar. A call to repeal the 17th.

No doubt bouyed by Trumps edict that congress gets to rewrite the constitution as it sees fit.

https://eciks.org/11022-20255-17th-amendment-repeal-resolution-self

From that article, this stuff gets me every time.

“The current system has given us six-year politicians more focused on national ambitions and the institution of the U.S. Senate than on the states they serve,” Self said in a statement. “Our Founding Fathers designed the Senate to protect state sovereignty and act as a check on federal overreach. If senators are supposed to represent their states, then the states should choose them.

Nah. It was designed to keep the big landowners from being outvoted by the plebs.

WTAF? Sorry, am keeping my head mostly in the sand this week, not keeping up at the back.

Sorry, I was referring to the Supreme Court upholding the decision on bans on trans girls in women’s sports in West Virginia and Idaho.

Isn't that a matter for the individual states, not for Trump?

I don't follow this subject too much, but I think it was a states rights thing. I think Biden done a fed law banning states from banning. But that needs checking.

AskingQuestionsAllTheTime · 02/07/2026 18:05

I thought it was like RoevWade, never enacted into federal law and thus subject to change without notice if a particular state decided to change it.

(What has it got to do with slavery, as a matter of interest? Slavery is against federal law now, isn't it? 13th amendment.)

"States rights" is shorthand for "Don't stop us being racist".

Or in this case feminist.

Former Olympian indicted on felony charge in what President Donald Trump called Reflecting Pool vandalism.

Jeanine Box-o-Wine Pirro right now doing a press conference to justify why her office has indicted three-time U.S. Olympian, David Hearn, for destruction of federal property.

Per Pirro: Hearn “ripped a piece of recently installed sealant on the bottom of the Refecting Pool...He damaged the pool!!!"

From my Popbitch email this afternoon:

"The Washington Reflecting Pool saga seems to have proved too much for even Donald Trump’s incredibly loyal and supportive press office.

When correspondents from the Daily Beast went to the White House for comment on a story they were first met with silence and then, when a response finally came, no quote, no actual response, just “include Karoline’s comments on Hannity last night”.

In other words: go away, watch last night’s FOX News and use that."

Oh Rubio! He is going to get fired, isn't he? He spoke the actual truth about the deal, instead of the True Social truth!
