Bradford is ok in parts. City centre is nice!

Dewsbury OTOH. Pretty bad.

The centre would be lovely if the swept out of the drug addicts and filled the empty buildings. The old architecture is stunning. Oddly, that makes it worse. Such a fall from what it was in my grandparents lifetime

When I was little my parents had booked us a few nights in Blackpool, early 70s.
We drove up to the hotel, dad announced ‘We’re not bloody staying here’ & we drove off.
I’ve never been back 😂

What was it about Oban? We were there a couple of years ago and stayed in a lovely B&B and had an amazing seafood meal.

Was about to ask the same question. I think its lovely

They have hotels? 😳

They do indeed! Everyone was clearly staying there for work.

You have to spend every minute leaning at a 45 degree angle due to the place being a giant outdoor wind tunnel.

Oh god yes. Spent an afternoon there after missing the ferry, what an awful place. It was 40 years ago and I still remember it like it was yesterday 😐

Why is it creepy?

PiffleWiffleWoozle · Yesterday 23:21

Plumstead.

Bertiebiscuit · Yesterday 23:21

Stratford, East London. Awful place, and every time i have the misfortune to go there something bad happens. Has a violent undercurrent.

How do you put up with a mountain for an hour when it takes at least 3hrs to reach the top?…. Did you spend an hour at the top?

This. My BF has a holiday house there and I am so glad you wrote this as I feel like I am chronically depressed there.

What! I thought it had undergone a massive makeover since the 2010s

It is beautiful. Just creepy.

FastnetLundyRockall · Yesterday 23:21

Fort William. Depressing, bleak, creepy people who followed me, aggressive supermarket staff, plus someone shoved a dual carriageway between the town and loch so it’s a bit ugly

They do indeed! Everyone was clearly staying there for work.

UN emergency relief workers, presumably.

HelenaWilson · Yesterday 23:22

if that’s a portmerion reference I'm afraid i don’t understand it 😂

The 1960s tv series The Prisoner was filmed in Portmeirion. That is the well known quote from the show.

Neither the Prisoner, played by Patrick McGoohan, nor the viewer, ever find out what's going on. It was a bit of a cult at the time.
