Thank you, i am considering the Westin but it might be too expensive as are looking at doing 5 nights Maui, 5 nights Oahu, 4 nights Kauai and 3 or 4 nights Big Island. Need to keep hotel costs down a bit!
Definitely going with Kaanapali as that’s where we stayed last time and it’s beautiful there.

Oo I’d love to do Kauai and Big Island. These were both out for me as I don’t drive and apparently they aren’t really doable (particularly kauai) without a car. Have a look at Airbnb’s maybe?

DH and I are just looking to book something in July, most likely Greece. I am then going to South Korea in September for a wedding which I am very excited about as my adult DC are coming and we only all get together at Xmas these days.

Femalefootyfan1 · 09/06/2026 13:27

We’ve already been to Australia and Bali this year and we’ve got a week in Cyprus booked for later this year but as we’re retired, I’m thinking about where we can have a short city break in Europe and probably somewhere in the UK too.

weegiemum · 09/06/2026 13:27

Outer Hebrides in July for 10 days. Same again for 2 weeks in October.

We used to live in Harris and plan on retiring there so we kept our house. It gets let out to tourists and we just block off the days we want. Because we’ve been so often we have our favourite spots and don’t have to do the tourist stuff. We’ll sit about and read and do the gardening and have long lunches and drink good wine and generally chill. Just the 2 of us too, no dc are joining us (we have 3, all in their 20s now), just the dog and it’s paradise for him, especially on the beach!

There’s a chance Dh and I might go somewhere sunny in the autumn, we did Portugal last year, but that’ll depend on the money side and if he can afford a locum (he’s a GP).

We’ve just got back from Sani (Greece) and are going to Switzerland in August.

Yes, sorry, I saw your reply afterwards! But I'm getting to the age now when plenty of my friends either don't work or work sufficiently part time that they can do plenty of trips, especially now kids are getting grown up. So seems strange to me to assume that annual leave must always be a constraint.

You’re right, I guess I just assume that most adults work full time or close to it as the vast majority of people I know do, but of course there are many people who don’t work/are retired etc.

Will definitely look at airb&b or similar, see what the travel agent suggests.
Yep really do need a car on the other islands to get out and explore.

BuildbyNumbere · 09/06/2026 13:42

Just got back from an AI week in Lara Beach, Turkey!

Twinklewonderkins · 09/06/2026 13:44

Have done Istanbul as a city break. Santorini next month and Hurghada in a hotel recommended by colleagues booked in October

My other half and I mutually agreed to break up yesterday. It’s really sad but I know it was coming. So I’m going to consolidate my debts and then fuck off to Japan alone. I can’t fucking wait! 😂😂

I'm sorry. Thanks even when agreed there is still some grief I know.

Where in japan? I went to Tokyo on a whim just after my university exams and it remains a highlught of my life!

It was a little difficult on Maui also, had to get a lot of taxis. Kihei is a really great and walkable location though so we didn't struggle too much.

Newbie8918 · 09/06/2026 14:03

Just returned from Sorrento. It was beautiful. Later in the year Nashville and somewhere in the Caribbean………not booking just yet and closely watching the situation with the USA.

Fuddly24 · 09/06/2026 14:07

A log cabin near York in September, DH will be fishing and I'll be in the hot tub and just booked Maldives for next April for our 25th wedding anniversary 🌞🍸

Brussels, Ghent, Bruges and the Flanders Fields in August. I never go away in high Summer, so wish me luck!

Estepona for three weeks over Christmas/NY as usual. Best trip of the year getting away from all the Christmas shite here.

Nothing else planned but will decide as I go. Retired so can go any time.

We did Brussels/Ghent/Bruges & Flanders fields & just loved it, enjoy. I love the sound of Estapona to be away from Christmas but my partner would never not be at home for Christmas sigh

Happyholidays78 · 09/06/2026 14:11

We're doing something different & going to Chamonix in September for a bit of walking & a SPA hotel. Otherwise UK breaks this year as we have a big trip planned for next year. I live for holidays!

MajorProcrastination · 09/06/2026 14:14

nowhere now all my money's gone on the bloody house

MissAmbrosia · 09/06/2026 14:35

We've just come back from a week in Seville in lovely apartment with a plunge pool (much needed as it was nearly 40 degrees). We are moving to UK end of next month though and I start a new job so not sure when i will get chance to take any leave. I do have a Lisbon long weekend planned for October. Planning to do some UK weekends and maybe do a week or so somewhere warmer at Xmas or in the NY.

Phoenixfire1988 · 09/06/2026 15:48

We go to sunny beach Bulgaria next week 1st time going there and I've booked Egypt for the end of next year too

I live in Mallorca so I'm on permanent holiday!

@whirlyhead Oh, I’m jealous!! We just love Mallorca 😍 where abouts do you live?!

Its Mallorca for us this year - in July ☺️ first time with DC and first we’ve managed to go since just before lockdowns etc so I cannot wait 😍
Lake District a few weeks later for a camping trip.
Another camping trip for the kids school September weekend - just a local trip due to timings so we’ll be near Edinburgh for that.
Then Center Parcs for the October holiday this year ☺️

Looking forward to them all!

ToadRage · 09/06/2026 15:59

Twodogsonthecouch · 09/06/2026 16:05

Had 2 weeks in Morocco in April, going to Madeira for a week in August and hoping to go to Namibia next spring 🤞🤞

Queenofheart · 09/06/2026 16:07

We're going on our second Tui Cruise (first time last year) around the Greek Island, it's amazing, a different Island to get off at every day, amazing ship with numerous restaurants and entertainment, it's fab. The cabins are great, lots of storage space, nice bathroom and the staff are great. Took us years to be convinced and now we're converts.
