Wow you must get a lot of annual leave!

i get 22 days + bank holidays + closed for about a week over christmas, and i just maximise this as much as i can and try to coincide trips with bank holidays!

my DH gets 35 days + bank hols + his work are generally quite flexible (e.g. he can work from abroad, which i can't). i feel like my allowance is really low compared to his/other people i know.

my annual leave runs from march - march so some of these fell into last year's allowance.

That’s what I was thinking, unless they were very short trips!

We are going to Spain in June. 3 days in Barcelona, 3 days in Madrid then a week in Valencia.

i responded to the other poster, i get 22 days but i maximise bank holidays/office closures over christmas. my holidays run from march so some of these fell into last year.

mexico city was 11 days, skiing and my other european break at the start of this year 4 and days respectively. then my allowance reset and i spent 15 days in hawaii/la (9 days annual leave with bank hol and weekends)

i have 13 days left and will likely use some of these around the august bank holiday

We are going to Australia after GCSEs and A-levels to see family. 5 weeks, and doing a road trip up North. It's winter there of course, so i am hoping the promise of an early then late summer in the UK comes to pass!

Then Greece in October again to see family.

I was there in August a few years back, was a bit worried about it being winter, but the weather was glorious particularly up north!

italy- flying to Milan (avios points), there for 3 nights, day trip to Lake Orta by train then a train to Trieste, there for five nights including a day trip to Lublijana, then train back to Milan for the flight home. It’s our first holiday in years where we don’t have to worry about offspring, offspring’s SO/friends, Olds, the dog, self-catering or the car. So we’re doing grown-up itinerary to the hilt.

MsSquiz · 09/06/2026 12:57

I’m going to Ibiza for a weekend with my best friend
then a family trip to Ikos Odisia in Corfu and later in the year, another family trip to Disneyworld Florida

keepswimming38 · 09/06/2026 13:04

Or doesn't work?

pinkspeakers · 09/06/2026 13:10

Norway in June with family. Solo trip to Armenia/Georgia in September.
Around Easter DH and I travelled by train through France/Spain to Fes in Morocco.

I'm a solicitor, I work full time. I just try to plan my annual leave dates well to maximise bank holidays etc.

just came back from a trip to hawaii and la which was amazing! would highly recommend.

visited mexico city and skiied in france earlier this year. mexico city was one of my favourite trips, again i'd highly recommend.

will probably visit new york and dubai later on this year. and will hopefully do a european weekend break or two.

We’ve done the Hawaii/LA trip before and it was fabulous.
Can i ask which hotels you stayed in in Hawaii as we’re going to book next summer so looking for recommendations. Or else we stay in the same hotel’s we did last time.

Some places you can also purchase extra annual leave. That’s what I’ve done this year. With my long service allowance, bank holidays and buying an extra week I get 7 weeks holiday this year.

Yes, sorry, I saw your reply afterwards! But I'm getting to the age now when plenty of my friends either don't work or work sufficiently part time that they can do plenty of trips, especially now kids are getting grown up. So seems strange to me to assume that annual leave must always be a constraint.

i was on maui, i stayed in an airbnb in kihei not far from the beach. it was lovely! i usually prefer airbnbs/apartments to hotels.

i did spend a day at the westin in kaanapali which i was very impressed by, would recommend!

ACIGC · 09/06/2026 13:16

Sharm El Sheikh. Sensatori Coral Sea.

clearlyy · 09/06/2026 13:16

My other half and I mutually agreed to break up yesterday. It’s really sad but I know it was coming. So I’m going to consolidate my debts and then fuck off to Japan alone. I can’t fucking wait! 😂😂

That's the dream!

Campingkit · 09/06/2026 13:17

Camping in France in late July-early August. Probably Dordogne but maybe a bit further south. No DC so going for something low key. Recommendations very welcome 😊

Of course money might still be a constraint!

Mary46 · 09/06/2026 13:17

Toronto really excited.

Mumof1andacat · 09/06/2026 13:18

The Netherlands. Struggle in the Mediterranean heat in August so trying northern Europe.

it would be for me if i went down to part time!

heartsinvisiblefury · 09/06/2026 13:20

The Netherlands - not bothered about the lack of heat, I just feel at ease and calm the minute I set foot in that country.

MinnieMountain · 09/06/2026 13:21

Pembrokeshire in August.

Malaga for New Year.

I'm also going to Trier and Cologne by myself in October.

Thank you, i am considering the Westin but it might be too expensive as are looking at doing 5 nights Maui, 5 nights Oahu, 4 nights Kauai and 3 or 4 nights Big Island. Need to keep hotel costs down a bit!
Definitely going with Kaanapali as that’s where we stayed last time and it’s beautiful there.
