Broccoli, cauliflower and sprouts (note the theme) all taste better when battered with a sledge hammer, placed into a blast furnace for an hour and then any remains detonated with high explosive equivalent to a minimum of 500lbs of TNT. Then I can't taste the evil bastards at all, so by definition they taste better.
Boiled potatoes on the other hand are the food of the gods. Skin on. No salt in the water, no butter. Best form of potato.
Home made chips acceptable (basically small boiled potatoes with salt and pepper on the outside - also skin on).
Jacket potatoes acceptable.
Sautéed potatoes acceptable (that's just crisping up joyous boiled potatoes after all - skin on obvs).
Mashed potato (should only ever be mashed plain boiled potatoes, none of your milk/cream/butter etc., and of course skin on) are ok, but why ruin a perfectly good boiled potato? Save time and effort and have your boiled potatoes as the Great God Spud intented.
Roast potatoes not acceptable - too much fat compared with my homemade chips and they are pretty unpleasant.
