Does anyone believe Nicola Sturgeon?

As per title, does anyone actually believe NS with her claims she had no idea her husband stole £400k, didn't notice the MANY luxury items just appearing around her home, and is a victim in his deceit?

So why did he buy it? As a garden ornament? His mother was in her 90’s highly unlikely she was going on holiday in it.

Pretty sure it was used for relations if you catch my drift.

I believe her. Over 12 years, it was about £30k a year - it’s not like it was a £400k lump sum and all the stuff was bought at once.

What you mean us that is was £30k per year ON AVERAGE. But some specific years it was £100k plus. Shouldn’t she have noticed ted that?

Gotobedbyday · 31/05/2026 14:35

Believe her on what?

Believe her when she cleverly lies!

HumbleKatey · 31/05/2026 21:28

godmum56 · 31/05/2026 13:17

Apparently it wasn't listed as a motorhome but as "transport"

£100k for one item of ‘transport’.

HumbleKatey · 31/05/2026 21:34

MJagain · 31/05/2026 12:26

This. £400k sounds massive, but take away the motor home and it’s less than £10k/year. Easily not noticed when both are high earners.

I believe she’s guilty of incompetence but not criminal.

You only want to ‘take away the £100k motorhome’ , and average the remaining total out over as many years as possible because it backs up NS’s ‘I’m innocent’ narrative, You’d like to think she’s innocent. Confirmation bias,

CatLady476 · 31/05/2026 21:35

Yeah I do actually, I know women whose husband's have kept much bigger secrets (affairs, alcoholism, criminal activity) and their wives were in complete shock when it all came out. In one case there was a prison sentence. She was mortified that people might think she knew - on top of the betrayal from her "D"H.

I don’t like her but I do believe her.

Who don’t you like her? Surely you’d like the honest person you believe her to be?

BeigeandGreige · 31/05/2026 21:38

She was responsible for signing off the party accounts.. are you telling me she didn’t notice?

Absolute bollocks.

its my understanding that the camper van wasn't used by NS. So far as it entered her head at all, she thought it belonged to inlaw's neighbours. Given the strange stuff that he bought, I don't think that there are "safe assumptions" about any of his purchases. I understand that they didn't holiday together.

It was an expensive Motorhome. Why do you try to downplay it by calling it a mere ‘camper-van’?

HumbleKatey · 31/05/2026 21:43

NS was happy to create a sham marriage to a man , because the truth of her same-sex relationship would cost her votes. So she is more than capable of lying about her party’s finances.

HateThese4Leggedbeasts · 31/05/2026 21:46

As I said earlier in a post, I do believe her enough overall to give the benefit of the doubt that she didn't know of the theft. However I also think as the leader of an organisation she is culpable for not having the right protections in place to prevent the fraud. Most CEO/MDs would have to resign over that aspect. Especially given the personal relationship between two senior people in the party. It's negligent

because I call them camper vans.

She may not have known about the motorhome but what about the £80k+ SUV Jag, expensive watches, pens, jewellery etc are you saying she didn’t know about any of this stuff? She might not of actively been involved in the embezzlement but do you really think she didn’t have any concerns about where all this stuff was coming from. Its not like she didn’t know what he earned. He wasn’t an investment banker on a huge salary and getting a huge annual bonus.

you'd have to ask him that, ditto an electric pencil sharpener, a robot lawn mower, a cruet set......

I genuinely interested do you really thing that her being in a same sex relationship would have cost her votes? I cant believe that most Scots give two hoots. If she needed tp create a sham relationship why marry? They cohabited for years before marrying.

I can easily see the attraction of an electric lawn mower!!
My boss loves an electric pencil sharpener and I guess you could buy one of a whim.😁But no one buys a 100K+ motor home on a whim especially on 80K a year.

Gadgety · 31/05/2026 22:07

I believe her yes. BUT what I can't believe is that there were no controls in place. I can't get an m and s sandwich signed off as an expense in my work without uploading a receipt, a manager check and the ongoing chance on internal audit. It's a disgrace. As a wife, she can be excused. As the leader of the political party, she can't be.

And where is her long term wife? The one she’s been living in the Scottish Borders with for more years than she was “married” to her husband??? All the people in the border town her and her female partner live are very well aware of their hypocrisy

Oh, who’s this?

NosnowontheScottishhills · 31/05/2026 22:14

BigAnne · 31/05/2026 22:09

I believe his salary was approx 130k.

Not according to the BBC.
Anyway even on 130k PA (before tax) you don't buy a motor home costing well over 100K on a whim and the hide it on your mother drive which your wife conveniently believes is your mothers neighbours drive.
Come on does any of this believable?

I didn't say I thought it was believable.

HolyMonthof · 31/05/2026 22:19

This wife business is a distraction from the fact that she was the leader of the SNP with ultimate responsibility for the finances and according to some SMPs shut down any scrutiny of the accounts

Vivienne1000 · 31/05/2026 22:25

She has been vile about Westminster. Now she is living in London. I guess she secretly loves England and realises how much it has to offer.
As soon as she realised the truth, she was off like a shot and hasn’t got a single good word to say about her husband.

Gotobedbyday · 31/05/2026 22:47

BigAnne · 31/05/2026 22:09

I believe his salary was approx 130k.

His salary was between £70 and £80k apart from one year a decade ago when it was £107k. In other words, most years he was taking home about £57k post tax.
