Henry Nowak

Heard of him? Probably not, because there seems to be an almost complete news blackout about him. Basically the police handcuffed him and let him bleed out because they thought he may have said something racist - he didn't, it was a lie told by his murderer. Henry was 18.

Pointing out facts doesn't mean shifting the spotlight. It can be on the vile murderer, the police who behaved appallingly and the people who are trying to use this horrible case to stir up division.

So be quiet incase people get upset? It is not stirring up division it’s a discussion about how we have reached the situation that we are in now when white boys aren’t believed

Do you agree that statement applies to other racist murders where the victim wasn’t white?

In this case as I was saying the race was not a reason for massive protests - the fact is a young boy was murdered and it has been dealt with in court.

In other murders race is a massive issue. Every case is different. I just feel strongly that society is becoming fragmented and as seen on this thread everything descends in to a left/right black/white issue and it scares me for the future. Hope that makes sense

I agree. I am disgusted at the way some parts of the media are trying use this terrible crime in their cheap, ignorant, culture wars.Angry

Of course ‘culture wars’ still.

Not what happened to Henry Nowak.

No, all it tells me is that you’re happy to let the race aspect slide if the victim is white and reframe it completely, but if the victim is not white then you’re more in your comfort zone.

The killer made this about race, not us

For those on here saying George Floyd wasnt suffocated to death whilst a man leant on his neck but just unhappily died. See above

Its amazing to me on mumsnet people are blythly unaware woman are often arrested in domestic violence situations when they are the victim and vice versa and that anti racism doesn't matter...when we've just had undercover documentaries about whole units exacting racist ideology in the Met this year.

Imagine needing any excuse to be racist ..that you would let confusion over a young man's murder and death be your weapon 🤦‍♀️

White people are treated better by the police and justice system by any objective standard

Two people wearing black face masks, hold up a cardboard sign which reads 'Justice for Yves Sakila' in black writing. They stand among a group of people in the shade of large green trees.

Yves Sakila: Crowds gather outside Ireland's parliament over 'disturbing death'

Yves Sakila, 35, died on one of Dublin's busiest shopping streets after an alleged shoplifting incident.

@AndyBurnhamForPM has to be trolling. There is no other way to make sense of their comments. @mumsnet Please review their comments and delete.

They made similar comments on another thread (the one about the Manchester airport attack).
It’s even worse on this one though. Poor kid got stabbed to death, but ‘let’s see if he might have made some racist comments’.
Maybe he ‘provoked the killer by saying "you're a bad guy"’. 🤦‍♀️

Imagine needing any excuse to paint people as racists, that you object to their outrage over a young man’s slaying by somebody who used their race to smear him.

How can you not be upset by an 18 year old student who hadn’t committed a crime, stabbed, handcuffed saying I can’t breathe

Because he had the misfortune of being murdered by somebody who used their race to smear him, and that sits very uncomfortably with them indeed.

No, not be quiet at all. Of course people will be upset, rightly so, anyone with a heart would be.

But there is a difference between being upset and trying to weaponise this horrible murder. And it is a fact that some are doing that.

What is that difference precisely? I feel like anyone noting the racial aspects to the murder will be accused of ‘weaponising’. When it’s only relevant because the killer specifically made it relevant with his lies.

The killer made his excuses as all criminals do. That is just life. Criminals say outrageous things in their defence ..often stupid and laughable sometimes cruel and wicked.

Weaponising that for a racist agenda is not respecting that young man's awful death.

Are you aware that in major incidents...health care help is held back for fear of further casualties? There are many awful and unpleasant things that delay care for victims of crime.

Whipping up an us and them frenzy, creating a hostile society will only create more criminals

Starbright102 · 30/05/2026 20:56

Absolutely shocking. The outcry is nothing like when everywhere went daft about George Floyd. I spoke to someone today who was unaware of Henry. How on earth someone let alone a police officer could possibly be so unaware that someone who had just been stabbed 5 times and was bleeding to death might need assistance and not arresting is dumbfounding. I have no words

But do their excuses result in the victim being handcuffed while bleeding to death?

Ipsevenenabibas · 30/05/2026 20:57

@Anyahyacinth basically is saying 'nothing to see here' when in actual fact there is something to see here and people are outraged.

You got there first. So we just stay the tolerant, stiff upper lip Brits of old? There are problems in society now which need to be addressed and that’s not weaponising.

Henry was killed in December. I don't know about any PPS, but I only heard about it this week.

Same. I had NO IDEA. This is unbelievable. We only heard about it due to the case being at court.

There are huge studies at the minute about men getting away with murder claiming the woman participated in their strangling requested and enjoyed it...criminals do and say criminal things ...it doesn't mean we have to start saying...well we must react to make it relate to every person in that group...so in this case every Sikh...this person was a murderer. The vast majority are not.
The police acted on the information they had, they have referred themselves for investigation.

Its not an excuse to say white people are additionally victimised ...because they aren't.

Intentional strangulation has literally recently been made a criminal offence. If the system is trying to let men get away with strangling women they have a funny way of showing it.

I don't think you understand what I am saying.

It is possible to recognise and condemn the fact that the killer ruthlessly tried to use a false accusation of racism and that the police initially believed him.

It is also possible, at the same time, to recognise and condemn the fact that the usual suspects are using this case to further their cause of sowing division.
