Are you enjoying this heatwave?

How is everybody doing in this lovely, but very hot, weather? I usually like hot, sunny weather, but Monday absolutely washed me out and I did nothing all day! Yesterday was slightly cooler but still hot, and I am ashamed to say I chickened out of a dental appointment for today! Could not bear the thought of driving into town, sit in that hot, stuffy room for half an hour!! On the plus side, my dog is going for a bath and groom today so at least she will feel cooler after that!

I’m not a fan. I like sunny weather but I like it around 20-22 degrees max and with a bit of a breeze. This is too hot for me 🥵

No, I've had half term off and feel like the 30 plus degree heat has spoilt it a bit for us.
We haven't been out as much as we'd planned because none of us cope well in the hot sun.
It's been a bit cooler today and I've got loads of jobs done which is a bit annoying to think how productive I might have been if it had been low 20's all week.
Never mind, I have enjoyed sitting in the shade and reading and it is very nice to enjoy a more relaxed half term at home.

I've not really enjoyed it if I'm honest - I coped with it on Monday and it didn't feel too bad but yesterday the fan felt inadequate and was just buffeting hot air around but the worst was my poor dog - neither dog was allowed out yesterday as it was really hot here before 8am and one of my dogs has a thick coat.
I had them indoors with blinds down, fans on and fresh drinking water in 3 different rooms but last night was terrible.
My female dog had me awake all night because I was gently dampening her with a cool wet towel and I hung the fan over her bed and she had water next to her but she was still panting really heavily. I was terrified that she was going to suffer heatstroke (although I do tend to catastrophise over my dogs I must admit).
I've preferred the cooler weather today and at least both dogs got some outdoor time (and annihilated my back garden with their pool) and neither have shown any discomfort today - hoping I get to have some sleep tonight.

I don't really like very hot weather - around 23 degrees is ok for me BUT we have had so so much cold and wet weather that I am not going to complain. I prefer the heat to all the cold and wet even if it does make my head play up.

Thankfully I am retired so can just sit and read or potter around the garden and when I get hot and sweaty I jump in the shower

BogRollBOGOF · 27/05/2026 18:35

It's preferable to the cold and wet of a week ago, and while taking down tents on Monday was a bit of a slog, I've really appreciated not having the extra job of pulling everything out to dry. Plus it's been easy to wash and air gear like sleeping bags using the washing line.
Yesterday was a bit excessive, but it felt much nicer for some rain to clear the air and it's been lovely to be in the 20s with a breeze today.

Not the 30+ temps. I like it up to 25. I like to keep busy and don’t like heat stopping me.
I do love :
The early mornings on very hot days- having my breakfast outside before it gets hot is glorious.
The evening outside in my garden or in a nice pub garden.
A cool shower and hair wash
Washing drying in 1 hour.

I dislike:
Trying to sleep.
The full sun on the back of my house all afternoon until sunset and very little shade in the garden.
My hair going big and curly.
Feeling sweaty just because I am moving.

TwisterChampion · 27/05/2026 18:45

It’s been 25 here today which is ok. It was 32 for a couple of days before that though and that’s too hot for me. I take the dogs out early, go for a run and then stay home with the air con units on so I’m fine. I’d hate it if I had to be out in it or we didn’t have air con though.

Mine loves the sun and it’s hard to keep her in! We walked her at 6.30am and after 9pm amd not very far. She does shifts of sunbathing and flopping inside on the kitchen floor. Barely drank anything either! She’s Romanian!

Yes! Warmer, lighter and brighter is always better than the alternative.

TheWildZebra · 27/05/2026 18:50

Awful. My office was 33C and the commute awful. Home 27C despite windows shut blinds down and night cooling. I’m pregnant and feel sick and ill. Can’t wait for 21 degrees next week.

Meadowfinch · 27/05/2026 18:56

Yes, I love it. I can happily work in 30 degrees. I ran a charity 10k on Monday which was quite hard work but otherwise the fine weather is bliss. I've been craving it for months. 😎😊

YoBetty · 27/05/2026 18:56

Heatwave broke for us yesterday evening with a massive thunderstorm, and we had another one again this morning. Everything is a lot fresher here now.

EasternStandard · 27/05/2026 18:56

Yes

Livpool · 27/05/2026 21:14

Yes, I have been loving it! I have been being careful and not sat in the sun in the middle of the day. My asthma has been so much better in the warm weather too!

Thebackrowgal · 27/05/2026 21:15

No, I’m a fat mess and hate myself even more in hot weather

They're wonderful aren't they?
Weird thing is, when we take the dogs to Wales, she loves to lie in the sun and sunbathe too. She's just a haughty little madam
