Tell me something i don`t know.

Did you Know that elephants also hear through their feet.
Sloths can swim.
Having a clean tidy home improves your mood.

Not only can sloths swim, but they are very good swimmers. Faster in water than on land! They only poo once a week, they come down the trees to poo and risk death when they do. Also they have square poos. I love sloths! I did a feeding experience and got to feed and stroke one. Felt a bit like a border terrier that hadn’t been groomed for ages 😆

A Bumble bee buzz pollinating a flower that's too long and narrow for their tongue or body to reach inside, so shakes the pollen out instead (it's their protein source) vibrates at around 432Hz.

Before Western Music was set at 440Hz for Middle A (the note that orchestras tune to) with equal temperament, Middle A was nearer 432Hz.

Bumblebees are therefore the foundation of western music.

Tiny little arachnids live in your facial hair follicles, and at night they come out to shag on your face.

TheLightSideOfTheMoon · 25/05/2026 23:39

Echidnas penises have four heads. Four.

Also Wombats poo in cubes.

That's absolutely ridiculous.

Why make it an A and not a Bee?

FastFood · 25/05/2026 23:45

Most birds species don't have a penis, and sharks can be viviparous, oviparous or ovoviviparous depending on the species.
Bees (and actually probably most living creatures) can count.

PrimalScreaming · 25/05/2026 23:56

Herring gulls (sea gulls) have the ability to filter salt water. If you see drips falling from their beak, that's what they are doing!

The word giraffe means ‘pretty spotted camel’.

If that’s not true, take it up with the zookeeper who told me.

Apis is the Latin word for bee.
Not the reason for the A note.
Just a fun connection.

MsGreying · 26/05/2026 00:07

Boy honey bees have an extra segment on their antenna to the worker girl bees.

Ducks or rather drakes do have a penis and it’s corkscrew-shaped.

CoffeeAndCats3 · 26/05/2026 00:11

Cat penises have over 100 spines or barbs on them to trigger ovulation in the female.

When you castrate them, the spines disappear.

CoffeeAndCats3 · 26/05/2026 00:12

Cows have 4 stomachs. But only one is like ours, the others are specialised to break down the tough hay that they eat.

SinuousTendrils · 26/05/2026 00:13

Badgers invented underfloor heating.

Confuserr · 26/05/2026 00:18

Pigeons fly at an average speed of 30-60 mph. That's just normal ones. Racing pigeons have been known to fly up to 100mph & cover a distance between 600 and 700 miles in a single day!

RumNotRun · 26/05/2026 00:22

A gorilla's penis is between 2 and 6 cm erect. They have the smallest penis of all the great apes due to the way they mate. The alpha male of the group has sex with all the females so I guess he doesn't need to show off.

sequin2000 · 26/05/2026 00:42

Worker honey bees are all female and literally work themselves to death. The males (drones) don't work and have only one job, to mate with a queen. If they successfully do this their reproductive organs are ripped away, causing them to die shortly after. While inside the colony, males are entirely dependent on the female worker bees to feed and care for them. If they don't mate, the workers drive them out of the hive before winter as they are a drain on resources.

Amirina · 26/05/2026 00:50

Black birds like crows and ravens look highly coloured in iridescent shades to other birds. We are just looking at them wrong because we don't see in UV.

Badgers also change their bedding way more often than I do mine. They're probably on Mumsnet complaining about toilet brushes too.

Edited

They actually only have one stomach, but its divided into 4 distinct areas - the rumen, the reticulum, the omasum, and the abomasum. Each part can be identified by the different structure of the internal wall. The rumen is like a thick shaggy carpet, the reticulum is like a honeycomb structure, the omasum is folded like pages of a book and the abomasum is mostly smooth.

My fun fact offering is that fruit flies have the largest sperm cells of any species.
