What are you doing in this heat?

I went to the beach first thing for a swim, then took the dog for a walk. I then went round to a friend's for coffee.

It's now far too hot for me to be outside so I'm lying on the sofa watching Erin Brokavitch. DH is due home in a couple of hours, and hopefully it will be cooler then. I might go down to the beach for another swim, and maybe we'll have a BBQ for dinner.

It's too hot to do much this afternoon. What are you all doing?

We have an old Victorian house that is always cool in summer (and ice cold in Winter). It's 25 inside.

My poor 23 year old cat insisted she was hungry though. I gave her half a pouch which she promptly threw up. I'm going to syringe some water into her soon as I don't think she's had any.

We also have a wonderfully cool Victorian house which is freezing in winter but bliss today. Downstairs is heavenly cool because of the minton floor tiles.

Like you we also have an elderly cat, she is 19 and when it is hot she spends too long sunbathing then drinks too much water and vomits so she gets dehydrated. (She has kidney issues) When it is like this I sometimes make her a chicken broth by just boiling up a drumstick on its own (no seasoning obviously) and give her the water. She seems to like it

23 years old cat. Amazing.

And how do you heat your house in winter? Is it miserable or ok?

Miserable to be honest.

We can't afford to heat it, really. I try and keep it at around 16 and it's hard and expensive to get it to there and to keep it there.

So we tend to shut rooms down, and have blankets everywhere.

Yeah- our lovely cat is in amazing shape considering. But she's struggling these past few days. Saturday she did not eat at all. I did wonder about rinsing her off under a tap, which we did last year a coupkle of times- but she hates that too.

Oh that's a good idea! Ours has thyroid issues so her tummy gets a bit sensitive and I often poach her a chicken breast. Had not thought abut serving it up like a little soup.

Now having a cold glass of wine. Love the light evenings

Laying on my side, next to dd, facing the fan, listening to Summer Drake

Walked to town, went to B and M to get a ceramic plant pot for my tortoise, she'll have it in her outside run as a shelter and she is big enough to overturn her plastic pot that she has at the mo. Got a camping shower there as well to fiddle about with to make her a little pool/ shower type thing so spent all afternoon faffing about with that. I need to get a heavier receptacle for it to drip into, as she got into the one I've got then tipped it over!
I've done a load of washing, put all the washing away and got the clothes ready for the week, and cleaned all the blinds in the lounge. Not a bad day.

Working from home, but luckily my house has air conditioning.

It was purchased for my pets who are very heat sensitive, but it’s a brilliant house upgrade and worth every penny ) it wasn’t as expensive as I have thought before getting quotes!
