What are you doing in this heat?

I went to the beach first thing for a swim, then took the dog for a walk. I then went round to a friend's for coffee.

It's now far too hot for me to be outside so I'm lying on the sofa watching Erin Brokavitch. DH is due home in a couple of hours, and hopefully it will be cooler then. I might go down to the beach for another swim, and maybe we'll have a BBQ for dinner.

It's too hot to do much this afternoon. What are you all doing?

Went to a food festival with live music but there was no shade! Stayed 3 hrs but then we were all too hot and bothered so came back home.

We’re now all indoors with the curtains closed and fan on!

Well luckily a year ago I foresaw this heatwave… or I may have booked with the school holidays but now my bank holiday looks like this

Trying, and failing, to placate a distressed, dystonic child who is in pain and not really comprehending what the hell is going on (profoundly disabled). We've been up since 4am and I am about to shower him and put him in bed.

BlackBean2023 · 25/05/2026 17:33

Took the dog out for a walk at 5am, back by 6.30. Met MiL for a coffee at 9, made some lunch and then had a siesta on the sofa!

Will head to the beach around 7pm when all the day trippers have gone home for a paddle and an icecream.

Hamiltonfan · 25/05/2026 17:40

Gym first thing then spent the day in my (cool) hot tub in the garden x

I've been a blissful sloth most of today ☺️ lying in the shady bit of the garden reading, scrolling, listening to the birds while DS and his friends played cards next to me. Grazing, cold drinks, more grazing... Then a 5 minute walk to the waterfall where DS and I swam for about 90 minutes while DH (who hates cold water) watched. Then back home, rinse and repeat.

Sitting in the waterfall with the sun all dappled and the water flowing over me on a hot day is bliss. Walking back DS said how lucky we are to live in Wales even if it rains most of the time, because sometimes we get days like this 😍

Can I ask if thats in north wales as a few waterfalls near north wales x

Watching YouTube and crocheting a top. I’m in a kaftan - so one loose layer - no bra just knickers . Tomorrow predicted 33 yikes!!

whirlyhead · 25/05/2026 17:43

Played pádel for a couple of hours this morning, been sitting with my feet in the pool this afternoon enjoying the quiet as the school opposite is off. Currently trying to stop idiot cat falling in the pool which he has done on several occasions. No brain!

Meadowfinch · 25/05/2026 17:46

Ran a charity 10k this a.m. it was quite tough, 31 degrees when I finished.
Home, shower, lunch, been lazy for the last few hours, about to make some bread and do a bit of pruning. Maybe some ironing.

SpanielsGalore · 25/05/2026 17:50

I'm mostly wishing I could have some of this nice weather that everyone is complaining about.
17° up here in North Scotland today.

LyndaSnellsSniff · 25/05/2026 17:51

Got up nice and early to enjoy a pot of tea and Wordle in the garden. Then potted some flowers for the patio. 4 lots of washing done. Lunch outside. Then went to a National Trust site for a potter and an ice-cream. It was very, very hot but a breeze made it bearable. Now I'm enjoying a pint of lime and lemonade in the garden and waiting for DH to fire up the BBQ to make pizza.

Tomorrow, I may go to the cinema.

Dcs requested chicken noodle soup for dinner. So I am making it.

We have an old Victorian house that is always cool in summer (and ice cold in Winter). It's 25 inside.

My poor 23 year old cat insisted she was hungry though. I gave her half a pouch which she promptly threw up. I'm going to syringe some water into her soon as I don't think she's had any.

Lemonade2011 · 25/05/2026 17:55

Just home from a long day in a clinic in the roasting heat we got the last bank holiday off, fun times

Loopylalalou · 25/05/2026 17:56

Waiting for the carpenter to finish so I can take my bra off. He went five minutes ago….ahhhhh.

IfyouStealMySunshine · 25/05/2026 17:56

been to chatsworth house and home now staying cool

DeftWasp · 25/05/2026 17:57

Busy working, fitting new steel conduit work in the loft of a secondary school - there are 3 of us busy at it.
Touch warm in here I must say, but no risk of sunburn😁

Livpool · 25/05/2026 17:58

Had a lovely day, went to park earlier and walked round with DS and DH. Then home for a nap (I woke up at 5 as I was in the spare room and no blackout curtains, then we sat out for a couple of hours. DS has stayed in with the fan for most of the day though.

Oh no that’s rubbish!

FreebieWallopFridge · 25/05/2026 18:04

Hating every second of it and counting how many days til the temperature drops to something bearable.

Hiddenhouse · 25/05/2026 18:07

Went into town to get stage two of my hair done, long story. Then went to a garden fete where the temp read 37 so went and got lunch, did two loads of washing and almost melted trying to swap the loads over on the airwrs. So I put the new plants in a water bath and hid from the heat inside with a fan and a nap. Now having a cold glass of picpoul thoroughly watered down

herbalteabag · 25/05/2026 18:12

Tried to do some gardening but it was too hot so didn't last long. Been pottering in and out of the garden whilst also watching Netflix for most of the day. Hung out two loads of washing. Had to go into town, went to one shop and was exhausted.

Nautiesdese · 25/05/2026 18:28

Pimms and lemonade on the patio after spending 3 infuriating days with my husband (for reasons I won't list here) and my treasure of a dc.

23 years old cat. Amazing.

And how do you heat your house in winter? Is it miserable or ok?
