I’ve tried carte d’or, too sweet, and Hagen daaz has a weird texture these days.

I’m not vegan but I love Swedish Glace

Me too - amazingly delicious stuff

Double cream, vanilla pods, sugar/sweetener, mix or churn in ice cream maker, freeze for 4 hours.

Swedish Glacé is full of grim UPF ingredients.

Water, sugar, glucose-fructose syrup, glucose syrup, coconut fat, dextrose, SOY protein (0.8%), stabilisers (locust bean gum, guar gum, carrageenan), natural vanilla flavouring, emulsifiers (mono- and diglycerides of fatty acids, lecithins (contain SOY)), salt, exhausted vanilla bean pieces, colour (carotenes)

For some reason I only thought of ice cream at home. My favourite out and about is a Hockings, they only sell one flavour from the vans and you can have extra clotted cream on top.

Hackney Gelato is also full of UPF ingredients .

INGREDIENTS:
Fresh milk, sugar, fresh double cream, dextrose, skim milk powder, glucose, coconut oil (milk), stabilisers (locust bean gum, guar gum, carrageenan), Madagascan vanilla paste (1.8%) emulsifier (mono and diglycerides of fatty acids), sea salt.

You basically want to go for whichever one has the least ingredients- often finest ranges or organic.

Kelly's clotted cream. And then I also pour DOUBLE CREAM all over it. 😁

Haagen Daas doesn’t have any non-food nasties listed on the ingredients. Nor does Duchy Originals or ( I think) Sainsburys TTD Vanilla. The more flavours added, the more crap has to go in to prolong shelf life and retain the freeze. But (unless the manufacturers are lying their arses off) these are good supermarket options for vanilla . Unfortunately I don’t like Mackies.

Another vote for Cheshire icecream farm it’s delish

I don’t like Mackies either

Brickells is fab but more expensive - short shelf life, even the exotically flavoured options are non-UPF. Hackney Gelato full of UPF crap, sadly, despite the price.

god I love ice cream! And a bit of crème fraiche or Greek yoghurt is my preferred addition. Yes, I am greedy.

This has made me quite sad as I haven't eaten ice cream for years as it is just so crap. It's full of crap and tastes crap. The texture is sort of spongy and weird, not smooth and creamy. Horrible! I have tried Mackies and Kelly's and don't like either. They aren't at all like the ice cream I grew up with and I feel so sorry for those of you who are too young ever to have had real ice cream (yes, with clotted cream on top, ladies I hear you)

I do make my own sometimes, and some of the local small farm ice creams are usually wonderful when you are out and about
