How can I pack my enormous variety of tea bags for trips?!?

At home I have 5-6 different teas - mostly herbal and not in individual packets just boxes. I travel with work and nothing I’ve tried is right to keep the different flavours separate without using loads of massive ziplock bags for 3/4 tea bags in each one which feels like a waste. They all look the same so it’s hard to tell the difference once they’re out of their boxes.

I’ve tried old school cash bags but they’re too small. I’ve tried dinner money envelopes but they’re too small.

There must be something out there - that’s likely designed for a completely different purpose - but that’s sectioned or segmented in some way to fit 3-4 different teas in….

Any inspired ideas??!

What about those snack trays with all the different sections you can get? Or a lunch box with different sections? Usually have them in home bargains... sorry I can't provide a link. My dad uses a tobacco tin for his fruit tea bags

sausagerollsarecool · 21/05/2026 22:53

Have you tried the small multi compartment "snack" boxes? Seems perhaps a bit extra but could work

KnickerlessParsons · 21/05/2026 22:54

Can you not manage with one type of tea while you’re away?

NannyR · 21/05/2026 22:55

You can buy snack size ziploc bags. Label the different ones with a Sharpie - I have a small label maker that would be perfect for this.

Arlanymor · 21/05/2026 22:55

Smaller ziplocks. I am a tea fiend.

Faircastle · 21/05/2026 22:55

I use the smallest size of tuff bag plastic wallet. They come with different colour zips, so you can colour code.

FusionChefGeoff · 21/05/2026 22:56

@KnickerlessParsonsthis is not the thread for you Grin

snack boxes seem a bit too big when trying to pack small but I will review the tiny ziplock options now…

Would small vacuum bags work?

Those ‘small’ ones fit 5 sweaters, how much tea is she taking?

OP Ikea ziplocs are the best, very sturdy. Range of sizes including the perfect size for a handful of teabags.

Like this?

What about one of those subdivided plastic sleeves with pockets that you put photos or Pokemon cards in ?

dicdicnurse · 21/05/2026 23:31

I use the smallest ikea bags.

FusionChefGeoff · 21/05/2026 23:37

@minipieI like the trading cards idea…

What I really want is someone who can make me a beautiful but lightweight long wooden box about the size of a teabag with moveable dividers - sort of like an old school index card box and then I can fill each section and make some sections bigger than others depending on how I’m feeling.

But failing that the mini zip locks seem to be the way forward

This looks like an excellent solution!

Civilservant · 21/05/2026 23:41

Mini ikea plastic bags last for ages, label each one with permanent marker with the type of tea.

🤣🤣🤣
Buy a wooden tea box.

breastcancerpanic · 21/05/2026 23:46

I know this problem completely! (but not the solution). I can usually tell the teabags apart by sight/smell, but if they are mixed up they all start to smell of each other. And it is really bad having a cup of 'normal' tea (Yorkshire) which is all fragrant and fruity and weird. The struggle is real!
I don't have a solution, but I can add a detail to the ziplock bag plan, which is to tear off a bit of the box with the name of the tea on it (or just a bit of the picture) and put it in the bag with those teabags for identification purposes.

@FusionChefGeoff the struggle is real! Seriously, thank you - I’m glad to learn I’m not alone 😂 I’ve been using mini ziplocks, clearly labelled, all held within a master ziplock, for years. Loving the wooden teabag filing system proposal tho!

NannyR · 21/05/2026 22:55

I would do exactly this - and then keep the bags for reuse on future trips. In fact there are a collection of small ziplock bags that live in the hot drinks cupboard waiting for our next excursion!

TheWoollybacksWife · 22/05/2026 00:23

MIL always packed her various tea bags in coin bags that she got free from the bank. White label stuck to the front with the type of tea.
