A chat thread for those who don't like this Labour government. 💙

The problem with socialism is that you eventually run out of other people's money.

That poor family, Henry’s family.

In the footage where the family statement is read out, they look destroyed by grief.
This and the Nottingham murders have really troubled me. Devastating losses where cherished children are starting their adults lives at university to their parents great pride, lives lost in the worst way imaginable and then everything compounded by official incompetence. Not forgetting poor Ian Coates either, whose son is facing equal distress. I've been following the Nottingham Inquiry and it's awful.

It’s utterly heartbreaking. And the silence so far.

Both cases involve poor decisions based on racial bias that is institutionally imbedded.

I haven't caught up with this thread and I should have said this earlier because it is actually in no way connected with the release of the footage

I don't understand why Henry's killer doesn't have the maximum 30 year tariff

The judge said some crap about previously being of good character and also said that he didn't set out to murder somebody that night

But he did murder somebody that night. And from what I can tell, he might well have murdered anyone he could find in the street that night - because his story of Henry barging into him turns out to be a lie, doesn't it? And the court reports last week said that he has a bedroom full of weapons.

Anyway, as I say, I haven't caught up but I'm going to guess that you've all seen it and heard it. So I should've made that point before

but then I never understand when murderers don't get a whole life tariff suppose

Silence in what way?

Keir Starmer has posted on X but the rumour mill is heavily suggesting that Lindsay Hoyle told him to do so.

From Labour politicians up to this point.

And another thing

The pathologist apparently commented that it was difficult to see the wound

This suggests to me that the killer knew exactly what he was doing. This is a seriously seriously dangerous man. I really want life to mean life, but frankly, I wouldn't mind if something happened to him in prison.

Oh right

Yeah, I'm not really paying attention to them

I wouldn't even know that Keir Starmer had posted except Patrick Christys reposted it.

@SapphireCasino also says that he was part of some group with swords but they disassociated themselves becusee of his behaviour.

I'm also wondering the real motive of the brother calling 999.

Looks like there has been some kind of intervention from Hoyle.

From Sky:-Earlier, the Speaker of the House of Commons confirmed that the government would be making a statement in the House of Commons about the case tomorrow. If they do not, Lindsay Hoyle said, he would find another way to compel a minister to come forward.
