Actually, why do the Chippendales dress like my beloved Snagglepuss???

😉

Quite right. Snagglepuss was far more wholesome. A proper Southern gentleman.

Just the cherry on the cake of the $1.7bn slush fund created to pay "compensation" to anyone Trump thinks deserves it...
The justice department quietly added a provision barring the IRS from auditing Donald Trump’s tax returns on Tuesday, amending a widely criticized agreement that creates a secretive and loosely controlled $1.776bn fund to compensate allies of the president.
The addendum, signed by Todd Blanche, the acting attorney general, says the government is “forever barred” and “precluded” from examining the tax returns of Trump, his family, company and “related companies” (per The Guardian)

So now there is no reason for all their tax returns not to be released. If they can't be investigated, and presumably prosecuted, then the doors to the Trump vaults can be thrown wide open now. In the public interest.

Well. It appears I was wrong last week when I predicted that Trump would maybe not get the full works on his visit to China.

But I held off from eating my humble pie.

But I might not have been totally wrong after all. Because Putin is maybe now getting red carpet plus.

Trump got nowt. Does not appear the case for Putin.

I'm most amused at the thought of the photos to come of Xi and Putin signing cooperation documents. Trump didn't have that!

Trump did have Jetlag though. Putin can avoid that. A big bit of his country is in the same time zone.

So that is something Trump got that Putin can avoid.

At last, news about Trump's Bored of Peace! In addition to countries hesitant to pay up:

Among the board’s expenses are the salaries for 12 Palestinians chosen to run a planned civilian administration in Gaza, the National Committee for the Administration of Gaza (NCAG), who are in Egypt, waiting for security guarantees and diplomatic permissions to enter Gaza.
They are being paid an average of $16,000 to $17,000 a month, according to a person familiar with the committee. Mladenov is slated to earn about $400,000 a year for his role leading the BoP, according to records reviewed by the Guardian.
Asked about the figures, the senior BoP official said he could not comment directly. “I’m not the CFO … but those were eye-popping.”
A board spokesperson said the salary figures provided to the Guardian were “incorrect” and payments to Palestinian technocrats are modelled on the salary scale used by the Palestinian Authority. He declined to comment further.

So its basically the vaporware model. Big wages taken out, with nowt to show for it.

A quick search, and it seems Blair is not being paid, but the$1 billion membership fee ?

Iran does have kamikaze dolphins after all, just not the living kind.
When war restarts...
https://www.telegraph.co.uk/gift/edb89cbd6c316f56

One of these things where if the US had sunk them we know Turd would be yelling about it.

I suspect this again comes down to tech in that the US Navy is blue water. Iran is coastal. Warfare at sea does have similarities to land, in that gear is specific. A desert war army is different to an arctic warfare unit. Same as blue water is different to littoral water.

Donald is now due to attend the G7 summit in France (15-17 June) even though he hates all us Europeans.

Expect it will be just another occasion for him to shower the other leaders with insults, push himself the front of photo lineups and refuse to agree to anything (positive) with regards to Iran, Ukraine, tariffs.

It will all be sorted by then surely ?

He said he would end the Ukraine war in a week. He said the Iran war would take 3 weeks....

In fact, the US might technically be a euro nation by next month. If he takes over Greenland before then, Greenland might technically still be in the EU and NATO might not have gone to war with the US by then.

A lot of "ifs" I know. But you never know with this bugger.

Good I hope by now all the rest of the G7 have realised how to deal with him and they collectively push back, shove him right to the back of every photo and savage him verbally and any other way possible at every damn opportunity and completely wear the fucker out. In fact, just rip him apart. Literally! Please! ON TV! Stand up to him he's a bully!
Enough with the diplomacy make the man a pariah.

Depressing evaluation of the current state of Cuba in the World at One on R4. Sorry I can't find a link that seems to cover it and it was only a short item but really dire, a conjuring up of a population living in the dark ages now with little power, food running out, hospitals limping along, no fuel. Just horrible. And Rubio totally unrepentant apparently. I don't understand what it must be like to be so brutal, even if you think you're right does a person like that still not for a moment consider the suffering of the ordinary helpless people and think there must be another way to go about achieving his aims?
I know I'm just bleating into the wilderness.

I have followed Rubio for many years now, and he really really hates Communism.

That sort of frothing at the mouth hatred dating from the Joe McCarthy time. No objectivity, just hates it.

Now, I am not keen on communism. And for a while I did sort of respect his position, but wow, that respect vanished when I started to see how irrational his hatred of it is. Likes of Ian Duncan Smith is much more balanced and worthy of respect on that issue than Rubio is.

When I had Twitter, I followed him and he would post Bible verses every day. I am sure he is old school evangelical. Communism is atheist so is therefore the devil.

My guess is he looks upon the suffering of the people as him trying to save their souls. Mother Teresa style. And I can't find what he said on the subject of the death sentence (he is blocked where I am), but I recall that he is in the school that says the death sentence is good because the condemned nearly all find God and repent while on death row. So, executing them is saving them.

Trump the pacifist (ahem) and Netanyahu the warmonger are apparently at loggerheads while the global economy crumbles.

Three days without him on US soil. Funny how that makes me happy. Like the days when your boss goes on vacation. It really doesn't change the workday, but it just feels better with the boss gone.

@RedTagAlan yep. You're right of course. I still find it hard to grasp what the inside of his head and his soul must actually be like.

Here's an alarming substack article about the imminent collapse of, well, pretty much everything.
I haven't read it all yet so I'm sharing it a bit prematurely, but I think it's a useful contribution if stark.
I do thank you all for being here because somehow being able to be honest about how grim it all is helps.

I mean, I feel like I'm living a double life at the moment because my younger dd is about to have baby 2 AND move house and I'm desperately worried both specifically for her and her family because that's massive life stuff to do both of those things at once but also I've got 'and is the shit hitting the fan globally at the same time?' running in my head all the time, but I'm not voicing any of this to her because she's in a blissed out pregnancy bubble. Jeez I know we've all got our people to worry about but I'm finding it very hard.
