I’m happy to own it

Great, you're admitting that you have presented a march where police officers were injured, the grounds of hospitals invaded (etc) by people you support was just fine. Thank you.

Fast800goingforit · 11/05/2026 17:40

Hallowedturf · 11/05/2026 17:09

That’s over 3.8 million people you just treated with disrespect.

I disagree. You have to earn respect. I can respect plenty about other people. But not about unpleasant, racist views and voting for political parties peddling them.

Those Reform councillors and those who voted for them have treated millions of others with disrespect.

Lemonfrost · 11/05/2026 17:46

pavillion1 · 11/05/2026 17:38

The numbers were a drop in the ocean to how many marched .

That's irrelevant AND a backpedal on your original statement.

So, over 3.8 million people have racist views? Is that what you are asserting.

Be very clear, please.

Why don't you get off my case, stop hectoring me and trying to put words in my mouth? I believe very many Reform voters are racist. No doubt there are many people who have voted for Reform who think that because they may not use out-and-out racist language and racial slurs that they are not, in fact, racist.

But history has taught us that is how it starts and I'm damned if I want the UK to repeat what happened in Germany in the last century. I'd sooner spoil my ballot paper than vote Reform. Be very, very clear this is my overriding concern. Where does it stop?

Easy, please.

Those were your written words - quote/unquote. If you wish to withdraw them, that’s fine, but we cannot let such falsehoods stand.

I hope you understand, and agree.

Fast800goingforit · 11/05/2026 18:50

Don't be so condescending. I have no need to [take it] easy. Or is it the fact I have equated Reform with National Socialist Party of Germany that you don't like? There is no falsehood in anything I have posted. If Reform voters doesn't think they have supported a racist party then they need to wise up. Fast.

You are evidently doubling down.

To ‘equate’ the Nazi party with Reform is utterly absurd - please, be serious. And your original assertion (which you have amended I notice), that all Reform voters have racist views, is also wholly inaccurate.

Respectfully, I suggest it’s you who would benefit from a willingness to ‘wise up’ to what is happening, electorally - if nothing else. Reform’s success last week, and this government’s implosion have some common threads - whether you like it, or not.

Uricon2 · 11/05/2026 19:00

Why don't Reform want to be associated with the National Socialists in Germany in the 30s? A fair number of their election candidates seem to be saying very, very similar things, up to and including either Hitler had the right idea or the Holocaust didn't happen, although they are happy to widen this mindset to other groups.

They don't seem to have quite such a persuasive and charismatic leader though and I think any attempt to create a War Economy will fail dismally.

ETA if anyone is interested in what some Reform candidates really think.

They’re just posting an opinion as you are.

Thank you Eastern. Personally I am not aligned to Reform’s views on the whole, but I do understand the anger that the working class have against Labour (and before them the Tories). I see the electoral wipeout as a protest against the Westminster bubble and a warning that if the big two don’t get their act together before the next election then we will end up with a Reform adjacent government. I saw it happen in the US when the Democrats imploded and gave them Trump. The anger is real.

That’s my worry but different worries to you .. Iran before the 1979 revolution was a very different place .
Afghanistan was also very different. Women were treated more fairly . Vast contrast to today .. The rise of Islam in the UK should not be ignored because as you say we do not want history repeating itself.

I haven't amended my original assertion, what are you on about? You are putting a spin on what I have posted. But if the cap fits as a Reform voter...

We're in danger of sleep walking into a situation akin to that of Germany in the 1930s. I am being completely serious. You cannot be 'a bit racist'.

Over 74% of the UK population was white at the time of the 2021 census @pavillion1

I think the Jewish communities are definitely feeling like we are going back to the 1930s with a lot wondering when they should leave

This is an English originated problem.

Reform. Farage. English birthed.

Labour. Keir. Labour losses to Farage.

Labour & Media reaction to the above in the context of the recent elections.

Get. Us. Out.

Neither. I simply have a different opinion. I really can't understand how that requires a rude comment from you.

That's not rude.
Its a response to your unwillingness to accept the reasons people voted the way they did.
You clearly cannot accept the very real issues affecting certain parts of the country.
Thats OK- plenty of other people CAN see and decided they've had enough,

What unfortunate timing given today's news that Farage is being investigated for a £5 MILLION gift.

Do tell me again about "the very real issues affecting certain parts of the country."

Fast800goingforit · 13/05/2026 14:21

A £5m no strings attached gift. For someone pretty fortunate in life Nigel is doing rather well for himself isn't he? I'd love to know what his plans for that money were. Because I'm damned certain there was no altruism involved.

I mean, look at Rayner.

‘Priority for social services should be given to existing UK residents over immigrants’.

Your thoughts please.

Obviously. I can't imagine how anyone would disagree with that. Especially social housing.
